I've always wanted to put a small block chevy in a small roadster.  The moter blow in my miata 94 and I found a great deal on a 357 chevy.  Now other than the ovious in a 2700 pound(before the engine swope, what kind of horse-power should I try to achive.  Any help would be helpful thinks.

do some research, check with a Miata club, there are or used to be, kits available to swap a 5.0 Ford into the Miata body
i understand that a chevy motor has already been located, and i'm not sure what trouble it would be for either motor, but i haven't heard of kits for the chevy swap
it's been a long time (former Mazda mechanic) since i was under the hood of a Miata but it seems as if there was plenty of room to move around
other Mazdas (323, Protege, 626, MX-6) shared lots of parts (engines, transmissions, major suspension components) with comparable sized Fords (Escort, Probe, and possibly more) and the small (Ranger, B-series) trucks are identical except for name-plates

good luck either way
hold on tight, what ever you do
