Im haveing a really hard time finding information on Oldsmobile DX block builds. Im wanting to build a pump gas / NOS motor It will be a street weekend car, and track time too. What would be way to go, as far as a crank? The block has 3" mains like the big blocks. I have been told that a 330 350 and a 425 crank will fit. Plus a roller to boot. Please help before I take my frustration out on an import. (Dear carcraft, do a build on this block I will be forever greatfull!!)

That aughta get you started.

The Olds 350 Diesel block is a great place to start a buildup.  We've been trying to get CC to do an article on any small block Olds.  No bites yet...just nibbles.

Well I would give them my DX to do a build on and go hog wild if they choose*. I know there are alot of us out here that would love to read something new.

*all parts used would have to be returned to me in good condition

This is Car Craft we're talking here - after the dyno session, you'd receive a box with all the parts they could find.  UPS COD.

I agree CIS - there is quite a bit of information out there on building those. I am still good with the idea of the Mag spotlighting a build-up of a diesel block in particular.  I think that on an earlier thread CC said that they were toying with the idea of a cast iron 350 build up. I think they should do it - making it a diesel block kind of takes it to the next level which might spur some special interest in the BOP crowd. That engine would be a good racing selection for a Buick or a Poncho if one were starting from scratch.  A shoe in for Oldsnuts like we are.

I would support any small block build, but a diesel would be real interesting.

i think it would be cool to see something a little different like a diesel, maybe with a turbo, but car carft probably isnt smart enough to do one so instead ill bet they do a 400 horsepower chevy 350.  (hint: car craft take that as a challenge)

I have several Olds 350N DX blocks to sell.  Three have been cleaned and decked (a few thousandths), and are ready to bore/hone.  All the pistons, rods, crankshaft, heads, etc., are also available; and I also have a few gasket sets.  If anyone is interested in buying these, please give me a call at (812) 825-2818.  I ran four diesel cars in the 1980s and 1990s but am no longer interested. -- John
