I need help selecting a clutch for my under-construction 454 '69 Chevelle convertible.  It will have a Lakewood bellhousing (77-150), a stock flywheel, and a Muncie 10 spline 4 speed, and the stock linkage.  I have an injury to my left knee, so I need a clutch with light pedal effort so I can drive the thing.  Strictly enthuiastic street driving, no regular racing.  The 454 will be making around 400 hp.  I can't afford a dual-disk clutch; I'd like to keep the clutch kit cost down to around $200 - $250 if possible.  Any recommendations?  The Ram tech guy recommended I use a 12 inch truck clutch instead of the original 11 inch to get more holding power without a heavy pedal?  Is that a good idea?  Thanks for the info.

putting in the 12 inch clutch sounds like a great idea...  but how much clutching can your knee take.... if you want it to get better....

i took off six months... and sat at this computer and my knee is almost well... 90%...

i like healing  my knee more than i enjoy driving a stick shift car......

if you have a th400 or a th350.. you can put that in... and have almost as much fun than you could with a muncie...   just a thought...

it is only a few hours work to swap trannys once your knee gets better.. unless you have a factory stick console..    and you still might find an automatic shifter that will fit through that hole..
again... just a thought...  and since your knee is bad... you will just have to use your bad chevelle to kick things..

Stick with the 4-speed! 10-splines, means you've got either a M-20 or M-21.

You do NOT want to use a truck clutch because they tend to heav heavier springs in the diaphragm. My advice would be to convert the car to a hydraulic clutch to reduce pedal effort. Go to spec and get a good clutch, disc, pressure plate, etc. Get one of their hydraulic clutch kits. It's a fairly easy swap that'll make the car more fun to drive, especially if you've got knee trouble right now.
