Hey Mr4speed that was not directed towards you, just to that dork 340challenger, not all dodge owners are dorks just some of them, and since you are in construction, it make's you ok in my book. I build houses here in Phoenix, among being a jack of all trades, I don't think their is anything that I can't do, or at least learn to do. I'll post a pic of the house I'm building right now, along with some pics of my car.
Hey Gib you want to impress the chics and make that rice boy jealous. You just need to make your truck more appealing, and since I have no idea what your truck looks like I just give a couple of ideas that helped a buddy of mine in highschool. First put a set of nice polished or chrome rims on the truck, with some nice performance looking meats. Now to chics, looks is everything, so a nice paint job is the key especially a custom one with some racing stripes, back in high school my buddy had a nice layout on his truck, the front was white and then on the side of the truck it had a light blue strip that started the bottom of the front wheel well and ran across the door up in like a "V" shape and ran to the body line on the bed and then ran around the top of the bed, and then below that it was a dark blue, it also had racing strips that went over the roof of the cab and onto the hood the middle one was in the dark blue and on each side of that was a smaller strip in the lighter blue. Anyways he did all the body work himself and found a guy with a body shop that helped him paint the truck, basically he did the all the work and the guy painted it for him, body work is your time and don't think that you need someone to paint it for you, I'm going to paint my car myself. It's not really hard to do and any questions you have your local body shop supply store can help you. The last thing is you need a good sounding exhaust, I like Flowmasters I think they sound cool and with a built motor they sound right out mean. I believe in Show and Go, but then if your car is going to look nice it might as well have the power to back it up. Anyway a nice paint job, good looking wheels and tires and a great sounding exhaust will definatly get the chics attention, enough to problably get that ricer to want to race you, and then the chics will see what's really up.

dont worry TC, show isnt my go, the truck has a nice set of polished aluminums and my slicks will be on chromes, with open exhaust and a nevada silver paint job, just great for me i just want it to go fast, and I think i can just make the ricer boy jealous by letting him here my wide open pipes, he'll puss out there anyway
like I'll have any ricer competition around here anyway, some of my older friends just say there going to have to build something to give me a little competition, like I said all that is up here is diesel mechanics anyway, theres no muscle, but there is large amounts of rice around at the vocational school around here too for me to whup there ass, it will be fun to see the look on there faces when a 15 year old kid driving a old truck walks all over em, thats about sums up my goal
E-vac on your 406 huh, i think im going to invest in the same thing, or is it possible to reverse a smog pump? if you can it will make a nice *** rigged belt-driven vacuum pump, lol

Hey what year is your truck, and it seems that you got things going on. Have you raced that ricer guy yet. Also I know some old Benz's had belt driven vaccum pumps.

72 GMC half-ton 2 wheel drive, around 3700 lbs, 3.36 rear gear, getting my posi very soon, 700R4, 406 without any extras now, just broke it in so i have to get some funds together
havent raced that ricer, some bad weather just set in up here, we have damn bad winters up here ya know and anyway over the winter I'll just get better prepared to kick his ass, once winter is over I can put on my air-gapper, modified carb, cold air packs (GMC's have a headlight that isnt on unless the brights are on, I popped out the inside ones and plumbed in some cold air (figured it would help aero instead of a hoodscoop hurting it) to the carb and jetted up a little incase it sees some serious speeds that almost act as carb blow-through) also like i said i think im going to invest in a E-vac that i can hook up when i have my headers uncorked, also im going to fabricate a oil pan for it, no sense in using a stock one, i dream of getting a econo 3 stage dry-sump from Mangus and making a street dry-sumper because ive studied up on it so much, but I think ill save that for Gib's Toy, lol, 71 2 door Malibu, it was the first car i ever rode in when i was brought home from the hospital and the man who gave it to our family died yesterday, so one day it will go again, except it will go at Marion Raceway in rememberance of him, the best of people always have to die young, he was younger than my dad and a great person so we cant sell the car now, even though we've been offered quite a lot forit, and really its just a parts car
ahh, benz's huh, think I could find one in a junkyard or are they to rare?

We got ours from the benz dealer, I'd think that some benz wrecking yards would have them, or you can search the net for vaccum pumps for motors, and their are people that make them for SBC's.

Is that a 9 inch or a Dana in your Camaro?

It is a big bearing 9 inch with an aftermarket big bearing "N" case third member with 411 gears, a detroit locker, and an aluminum pinion support. It also has Wilwood disc brakes.

I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but I find it sorta amusing that you, the head guy in the anti-Ford coalition, have a Ford rearend in your car...

But I didn't say anything against anti-diesel mechanics. Around here, all the Diesel mechanics I know drive Chevys. I'm considering going to school to be a Diesel mechanic. Auto/diesel qualified guys start at 50k+ a year working for Ford. But I can't afford the school.

yeah i will be getting a type of engineering degree im sure but not diesels
the diesle mechanics around here sure arent getting anywhere close to 50 grand a year but there isnt any huge companies around here either, i know a few up here, make 25,000 a year probably

There's probably not many big car dealers where you live. Around here, there's a HUGE demand for auto mechanics that also have Diesel qualifications, because of the growing popularity of Diesel pickup trucks.
edit: I just wanted to mention: do you remember that the fastest car CarCraft ever built was a Ford?
