Stay with both. Right now, with Hot Rod and Car Craft, DF is putting out about 300 pages worth of excellent car magazine material every month we can subscribe to for about $20 a year. Maybe Primedia could put him on some sort of amphetamine drip so he can start editing Rod & Custom again too. Just kidding, I'm amazed he's able to do two magazines the quality of HR and CC every month.
On a side note, the issue of Hotrod that originally made me subscribe was when Magneto dropped a 500 Caddy into a Chevette and the thing hauled at the dragstrip. There was talk of a 460 in a pinto follow up. I see that Steve already owns a Pinto, and the new Car Craft seems like the perfect place for such a project.
Also, I used to love Hot Rod's "junkyard jewel" engines. That series doesn't fit with the new Hot Rod, but would be perfect for the new Car Craft. The more lowbuck the better. I remember when they made 400 hp with a wore out 318 and home proted factory head. It would be neat to see what they could do with other none SBC, SBF, BBC engines -- Olds, Pontiac, FE Ford, AMC, etc.

300 pages/month? Not really, once you account for the advertising.
Most issues of CC & HR are 120 pages or less. Many of these pages consist of full page ads or a combination of 1/4 and or 1/2 page ads.
The true measure of any publication is "column inches" of editorial content. I have no idea how many column inches are printed in both CC & HR each month, but I'm happy with both mags & I love the direction DF has taken with each.
I don't know how much Primedia pays DF, but they're getting a bargain at any price.

I really like the look and direction of both mags. DF is kicking azz! Been with both for well over 20 years and they've never been better.
