For me, flat black paint will never go out of style.  Same goes for Torq-Thrusts, Bullitt Mustang, Vintage 45, etc. rims.
That's probably the main reason I liked Terry's '69.

I am not sure what it cost CC to redo the 69 Camaro, but I know that I spent $20,000 restoring my 72 Camaro (sentimental reasons, I've owned it for 20 years) but it included: Rebuilt Engine / Trans / Exhaust / interior / suspension / front fenders, hood (Goodmark steel cowl) / grill / bumpers / all lights / both rear quarters / tail panel / trunk extentions / paint & body / new 12 bolt w/ 3:73s The whole car (shell) was coated in POR15 when it was disassembled, all new panels were coated before reassembly. The car is 100% original all the way down to the AM radio except for the new 700R4 OD transmission (I still have the original transmission), the all steel cowl hood was added and emblems were deleted except for the front "C". Hit the link below and you can see a step by step process of the rebuild from start to finish. It took 5 months over the winter, but I have been driving the hell out of it this summer...

Personally,I hate to see ANY old American car to be  destroyed. Why use a good car when there are so many crappy rice burners that desperately  need to be eliminated all together?

I must agree. No more Camaro bashing.  I never could understand why people make such a big deal out of seeing a lot of Camaros yet have no problem with the ridiculous amount of 5.0 Mustangs.  People complain that you see Camaros every where.  Well, there are more Mustangs out there than Camaros.

As far as the Magazines go, if there are more subscribers that want to see Camaros than AMXs, then the only logical thing to do is write more stories about Camaros.  I personally love to see a variety, and I feel that Car Craft does a great job.  But, there are a more readers that own Camaros than AMXs, GTOs, Cudas, and Mavericks, so it only makes sense that they will publish articles on Camaros.  (I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE MAVERICKS)  That goes for the Chevy's in general.  There are more car crafters out there that own a Chevrolet powered car than any other make.

My question-

On any average day at the track, Camaros will make up around 1/3 of the GM cars that you will see.  (Remember, this car has been produced for 35 years.)  The other GM cars are usually a combination of Chevelles, Corvettes, Nova's, Trucks, El Caminos, Various Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs .

For Mopar, I will sometimes see Dusters, Darts, Chargers, Challengers, with the occasional Viper although there are days when I will not see any Mopar at all.

AMC - almost never anything.

Ford - 5.0 Mustangs dominate the Ford side by 80-90%.  There will usually be a small showing of 60's Mustangs and a few newer Mustangs.  Sometimes there will be an occasional Maverick, Falcon, , old Cougar or Lightning, but not often.

My point is, at least GM lovers build cars other than Camaros.  It seems that Ford lovers, while they will be happy to list all the great cars Ford made, they only want to build  5.0 Mustangs.

This is why I chose to build a Maverick to park beside my Wife's 1968 Camaro.  Why be one of the 5.0 crowd when there are so many other great Fords out there?

Good point. I think many forget about the other  Ford products. With cars like the Maverick, Torino, Falcon and others , there are alot of choices without resorting to building a Mustang . Don't forget the Comet , Cougar , Montego and the first Fairmont/Zephyr. Want to do a Ford thats different? How about a Ranchero? Alot of guys build El Caminos , so why not the Ranchero ? Don't get me wrong , I like Mustangs too, but just about everybody builds them. What really catches my eye are the cars you don't see eveyday and are built by guys that aren't afraid to be different.

Yeah I love the capri from the early seventies I had one for a while.  If you can find the galaxies with the coke bottle bodie and the stacked headlights I think 67 that doesn't have hydrolics and a mural on it they are so awesome.  So much sweater than any mustang ever produced.  Though I have no real apreciation for camaros the on last months cover is awesome even if it was resurected with resources that most do not have.  Out of curiosity does any one know how to find one that was previously owned buy a family member?  Or if any one bought a 67 z28 near Ft. hood texas in 1970 that had the 302 replaced buy the factory with a 327 when my dad blew the 302 in 68.  He traded it in on a big block mopar, it was his first new car.  I don't want to buy it for him or any thing I'm sure it would cost more than every thing I own is worth added together buy now.  Just to let him know where it ended up.

So many cars end up being owned by our friends and then they don't do them justice,  I do have a major gripe about the Camaro thing, I went to get my daughter a toy car, hoping to find her a 69 chevelle since that is what she has as a real car, Muscle machines had one tiny one not the larger toy unfortunatly yet wal mart had almost 60 Camaros there in the larger size and almost all of the small ones were Camaros to.  At least I found one but all markets need a little diversity.

i found it amusing that (if i remember right )3 of 4 cars had rusty fuel tank problems, I know down here in the south we have moisture problems, but what seems to be the biggest problem we have is people leaving the fuel tank at 1/2 or less and then  leave them to set for years or more, well with the way fuel is these days it causes the tanks to rust wherever it is not covered in fuel.So if you are going to leave your car set up or know someone who is going to leave that prize progect set up tell them to completely top off that fuel tank, and if it will sit up for more than 3mo. (the point which fuel starts to go stale) add fuel stabilizer, it'll keep fuel fresh and ready for up to two years.......just a tip from the southern rust belt.....Brian

Back to the guys that were talking about
chopping up camaros, My dad and uncle are
responsible for the death of several hundred
Clasic chevys. Mostly 67 68 69 camaros and
tri fives. My uncle raced at Dixie speedway
here in Georgia and the used to take the
frames out of the trifives and put the
camaro bodies on em and Presto you have a
stock car.
