I really liked your article on the carburetors last month. And that got me thinking again...
When I was at the WinterNationals I talked to the Holley rep while I was there... and asked him about the 82750. Of course the sales guy said the 82750 was the next best thing since sliced bread. But in thinking about it... is there that much new technology in an 82750 that would justify going from a good 3310? Would the metering / response be that noticeable?
I was thinking that this topic would make a good tech article in comparing these two carburetors. And if there would be really any noticeable difference between the two.
My 3310 is working great... but...
Is the 82750 that much better to dump the 3310?
Would I see or feel a drastic difference in response, performance, etc...
How would the fuel / performance curves differ?
Right now I am running a 3310 (p76/s78) on a 351C 4V with a moderate cam.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, -dt

To dtpantera. I deal with salesmen regularly. Most of them will blow smoke up your rear end to convince you their product is better,or best. That don't mean the 82750 is not a better carburetor. If your current 3310 carb. is working good,i would stick with it. Old saying,if its not broke, don't fix it. You posting question was a good move. it is best to research for experienced advice before taking the word of a salesman.PS,not all salesman are shiftless, just a bigger majority.I know a few that are straight forward, but not many.If the 82750 carb has better pep,I would use it.If the hassle was too great,I would stick with 3310.

read the article on holley carb dyno comparison. 0-3310 was second worst carb, only beating the 390cfm carb. even the 0-1850 outperformed it! best all around carb ever made was 750 double pumper. most of airflow researches dyno tests are with a 0-4779. buy this carb!

Well the 4779 is a Double Pumper... and that is sort of like comparing apples to oranges. I am just trying to compare the difference between these two Vacuum secondary models.
I like the vacuum secondary's... I guess because 1) the 3310 I have works great and 2) the secondary's open when they need to and I don't have to futz with the mechanical secondary stuff.
I should have mentioned that the 3310 that I have has been modified a bit and it has no choke and has the 4150 metering block conversion kit (#34-13). I also used the lightest vacuum spring and I took out that ball bearing in the vacuum pathway to improve the carburetors response... This by the way makes all the difference in the world in the carb's responsiveness. And I fattened up the jets, as I have mentioned before. So it's probably closer to 82750 than a 3310... that is if you don't count the dog-legs and air bleeds.
I really would like to get the 82750... It is just hard to justify the cost of that carburetor when it is twice the cost of the 3310.
Anyway, what I am looking for is comparison and contrast between these two vacuum secondary carburetors for street/strip performance (95%/05%).
Which really brings this down to the two real questions that I see differ between the two carburators? Which are Air Bleeds and Dog Legs?
1) Will adjustable air bleeds help that much for a HP street application?
2) Will the dog-leg boosters give any noticeable performance, snap or mileage?
I am not sure if there are any other differences, but if you know of any, please let me know, because I just don't see much else.
Thank you, -dt
