I put a 455 olds big block in a '79 olds cutlass body and it fell right in.. there was plenty of room. Based on this, I think it should work for you also, as long as you grab the frame mounts from the donor car... in my case they were frame mounts from a big old Delta 88, and my cutlass frame was already drilled to accept the big block mounts... (the old "swiss cheese" frame **LOL**
In the case of your chevy, I would think the smallblock V-8 mounts should work too.... I'm sure any V-6-original mounts would have to be changed. If you plan on running a turbo 400 trans, you will have to modify your existing crossmember to suit the new rear mount location... I just cut the stocker off and welded it to the opposite side of the tubular x-member... (I'm assuming a 78' up Monte..).
Hope it works out!
Cheers,
Mike

I have an 84 SS with a 454 in it, no trick at all. You can even get Moroso solid mounts if you want. Trans mount even fits. You'll need to clearance the trans support to get dual exhaust on the drivers side though. Hooker makes headers that fit so-so, but their super comp headers are a perfect fit. Have fun

yeah I got one too but I am having second thoughts I have an 85 with a 454 and the hassle of the headers which are really expensive and the bbc parts which are also really expensive make it more cost effective to build a roller 383 and make basically the same power only way cheaper. Plus you can forget about changing a plug if you got a/c in under 2 hours and forget about setting valve lash. You might also need a new hood with a cowl depending on intake and air cleaner set up. Plus with a small block if you use the turbo 350 trans I think you can use a 200r cross member and mod it to fit dual exhuast ,check out malibu racing .com they got all the G body info on trans and bbc swaps. But if you are determined the motor mounts that you have got in the car right now should work if its a small block v8.
