On the mini van thing The dodge with the 3.0 mitsu motor is the same block as the twin turbo stealth 3000 gt. Im not sure if you can convert the mini van to AWD with ease but when my small block Chevette gave up the gost in HS I rolled my moms van for six months and smoked a few unsuspecting camaros. Granted they were only 305 powered but there is plenty of potential there. I have read that for a good DC/DSM auto tranny people put minivan internals in there cars tranny. At least with the turbo you can adjust your waste gate and retain some fuel economy though I really like the look of Corvairs, and would love to see one with a northstar. *** that Ralph Nadar, and GM for beeing to cheap to fix the car instead of just dropping the ball. Who cares if some one sports sandals Id rather get a little crushed just a little than have my toes cut off, in the event of a major catastrophy your screwed either way. May as well be comfortable untill that point. Youve only got one life why not enjoy it instead of taking the fun away to have more time in diapers on a fixed income wishing you had done this or that when you still could.

Lengthen the left side axle (move drivetrain right) and it should pull left under throttle. the ultimate circle track setup!!! the harder you accelerate the better it turns!!! (just messin around) Tree

The 3.0L Mitsu engine is ok, but it's far from great. Major problems w/ dropping valve guides & popping the rear cam plugs.
Besides, my van has the 3.3L Mopar engine...not really a performance engine, but it's put up with 203K miles worth of use from 3 different owners & it is still going strong & delivering good fuel economy.
I have read that for a good DC/DSM auto tranny people put minivan internals in there cars tranny.
I'm not sure which transmission you're talking about. The stock 3 speed A404 trans is pretty much bulletproof. The pre-'96 overdrive A604 trans is a complete pile of crap. My only major expense on this van has been replacing the A trans. at 140k miles. The original trans was rebuilt at 40k (under warranty) and again at 70k.
No turbo on my heap & that's fine w/ me. It's strictly a commuter car/beater/kiddie hauler. As I type this, the rear of my van is loaded down w/ a bunch of Honda parts that I'll soon sell on ebay.
DF's footwear doesn't really concern me, but I do find it funny. IMHO, men shouldn't wear sandals unless their name is Jesus, Moses, etc. & they spend a lot of time in the desert.
I'm not a Nader fan & the whole "Unsafe at Any Speed" thing was ####. Funny how Nader didn't address the millions of VWs & Porsches that used the same basic suspension design. Being a trial lawyer, he went after the deep-pockets domestic manufacturer.
I'd love to do the Northstar Corvair, but finding an affordable, relatively rust-free Corvair on the East Coast is nearly impossible. The Northstar is pretty easy to acquire...the junkyards & classifieds are full of cheap early examples & later models are available for a few dollars more.
