I want to install a carb on my 89 camaro that is presently equipped with a TBI. What can I expect the computer to do? I know the trans is controlled by the computer will this swap affect that?

the trans is not computer shifted... the ecm only controls the "TCC" torque converter clutch...

there are a ton of improvements you can to do the tbi unit... like going larger to make more power...

you will also need to replace the dist... as it is controled by the computer...  or it will just be in default timing advance... and not make the power you really want...

the most important thing is to make sure the carb throttle lever has the proper ratio for the throttle valve cable  and that it is properly ajusted before you even start the motor...

the tranny will die within a block if it is a tiny bit out of ajustment... ( it will burn the clutches out of it... bad... bad...)

extention link arms  are available from holley and edelbrock to fix this problem//...

Thanks for the info. What can be done with the throttle body? I'd rather keep it but I'm not having much luck with it. Can you enlighten me on what can be done to it? Any help is certainly appreciated. Thanks.

3rd gen . com....    nasty z28 .com.....edelbrock .com...

tons of places for hop up stuff for throttle bodys....  spacers... larger throttle bodys... larger injectors...   ajustable pressure regulators...      make sure that you have a pc with a data link that will talk to your car... or at least a scan tool...  not just a code reader...

you really have to see what the computer sees... and know what to do with it..

there are also books on it....   search the tech links at the various mags here... there will be some articles on it...   there are over 20 mags... i dont know how many...
