I missed the deadline. I'm a loser! If its not TURBOCHARGED, you're not finished yet . . . .

Anyone else see that first entrant's car and get George Doughtie flashbacks? I can't help but think that guy maybe started a trend with the AMC Spirits. What's next, a bunch of souped-up DeVilles?

I was wondering if the car is Georges. Anybody know when they are going to post the cars to be voted on?

My son entered his "Project Y gen 3rd Gen" The silver AMC Spirit is Randy Borglin's nearing completion at my shop. George's Spirit was nicely done but rather tame, but this one is evil, which is why we're calling it "Evil Spirit". check them out here: www.schwartzperformance.com

Looks more like "unfinished Spirit . . . ."
If it gets into the voting round, I'll vote for it (unless I can vote all Fords).

I entered too, my 71 Mustang convertable, silver no less, so my odds aren't good, but I support your voting plan. I don't remember the earlier series, but I don't think a Ford has actually ever won. Could be wrong though. Hope I get a chance to be the first one. Should be a real strong group this time as everyone dials in what they think will win it.

Andrew,
Are you entering the GTO again? If so have you made any changes or is basically the same as last time?

Fords have won several RSEs.
RSE XI was won by a killer white Fairmont Futura packing a Powerdyne- supercharged 5.0, TFS heads and a Cobra 5.0 intake. The runner up was a Vortech supercharged 5.0 Mustang with GT40 heads. (they beat a 406 ci SBC Corvette, a '72 Corvette powered by a turbocharged 3.8 Buick V6 (Grand National engine) and an '81 Monte Carlo with a 406 and SS bodywork).
The RSE in 1992 (don't know the number) was won by a blue/white Nitroused '89 5.0 Mustang (beating a Paxton-supercharged, nitroused Vette, a turbocharged 1988 Toyota Supra (the bad old days of imports in CC), a Kenne-Bell tuned '91 GMC Syclone, an '87 Buick Grand National, a "427" (440 ci actual displacement) '70 Chevelle, a 462-cube Cutlass, a 468-inch '70 Z/28 and a '58 Ford with an FE 390).
The RSE in 1991 was won by a black 1988 5.0 Mustang GT with GT40 heads (beating a 455 GTO on N20, a Vortech supercharged 5.0, a '70 Camaro 350 on N20, a '55 Chevrolet with a 454 on N20 and a '66 Nova with a B&M supercharged inline 6.
RSE III in 1988 involved factory stock new supercars and I believe it was won by a 5.0 Mustang.
Sadly, the only Ford in the first RSE (1986) was a grey 5.0 Capri which only ran 14.50s and finished in last place! A showroom stock 5.0 LX coupe probably could have beaten it! What was "Camaro Craft" thinking? (But then CC's own supercharged "Americruise" '70 Camaro only finished in fifth place--just ahead of the weak-sister Crapi!)
Ford would have won the RSE in 1993 with a 351W-powered Mustang, except for GM engineer Mark Stilow's legendary, hand-built, mega-buck '69 Camaro race car. So among the ordinary, non-professional Car Crafters, Ford "won" in '93 by finishing a strong second.
We Ford people need to stick together to get the best Blue Oval cars in the show!

MrFoMoCo, dude, my hat's off to you, your really know your RSE Ford history. Great to see that many wins in the Blue Oval camp. You may know my car from the August '04 issue. Since then I've added a bigger motor, a T56, Tru-Trac 4.11's and the next step up in brakes. Oh, and a whiff of nitrous just in case. Never Ending indeed. It would be an honor just to make the ballot let alone get into the actual RSE competition.

We just designed the layout today for RSE cars to be voted on. There will actually be 25 to choose from. Andrew, you're in (good luck with that "import" , and so is the silver Mustang and the Spirit. It's the August issue, on sale 6/21. The online element might be live just slightly sooner. DF
