I PAINTED A 80 CHEVY 4WD STEPSIDE WITH A SYNTHETIC ENAMEL IN A HIGH GLOSS BLACK IT TURNED OUT REALLY GOOD EXCEPT THAT IN SOME AREAS IT ORANGE PEELED CAN I SAND COLOR WITH A 1000 GRIT WET AFTER IT SET UP GOOD AND THEN CLEAR COAT THE PAINT IS VALSPAR

short answer, yes.
id probably start sanding with 1200 or 1500 instead though, and end with 2000 or 2500 before starting to polish it out. As long as you have enough coats of color on there you should be ok.
let it sit a while though, Synthetic enamels need some time to cure before cutting into them.

There was this synthetic paint coating we all used back in the 90 called the FTZ2000. It's got a really good endurance reports.

your the man. i let it sit about 2 weeks then started with 1500 then went to 2000 grit wet or dry. then polished the paint with SYSTEM ONE PRO KIT. it really turned out great. now getting ready for the clear coat. thanks again. TSN 97
