Hey, i'm really new to this stuff, heck, i'm 13, and i was wondering if anyone has a good idea to a really easy muscle car to start out with.

Well, it comes down to brand preference. There is the 86-93 Mustang, 78-88 GM G-bodies(Malibu, Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Regal, Grand Prix), 3rd gen F-bodies(Firebird and Camaro).
Choice is yours.

your right dude,stock vs. stock,and unless it's one of the what,5% of them made with 350's in them a 3rd Gen doesn't stand a chance against a Mustang,and they know it. And what's the deal with 5 speeds only being available with 305's?You gotta do a lot of mods to get a 305 to be nearly as quick as a 302 HO

First off, Ford did it right to build a "stock" motor with HO parts. :P


Second, 350 with a standard in a 3rd gen body is silly.  Mine splits the roof pretty bad.  I need sub frame connecters.


Third, Mopar rocks!........until the 80's came.

Haha i hit a mean pothole with my mustang and the windsheild cracked from where there was a stone chip talk about flimsy

Oh ya and about the 3rd gens with 350s in em, ive spanked them too, my friend has one got the motor done at a machine shop, claiming 300 hp(i belive it too), all ive don to my high milage(215, 600kms, stock everything, smoked clutch) piece of rust(my trans crossmember rusted off on one end then one day i dumped the clutch and boom the trans nailed the floor pan) is a BBK cold air intake i cut out the two rear cats.  mind you the front of his bumper was in the middle of my door by 1000ft, but i held him off the full quarter.

easy would be anything with a chevy 350. they have great power potential, the parts are easy to find, and they are cheap to buy(the parts). but it all depends on your prefferance any late 70's camaro should be resonably cheap to buy and ther's a really good chance ther's a 350 in it already as far as looks go i'm not a huge fan but i prefer one of those to a honda civic. if your into fords any late model ford mustang gt 5.0 should be pretty cheap to pick up and you get some pretty decent out of a 302 (5.0)  with the right mix of parts i'm just not familiar with how cheap the parts are..good luck

With the older cars like Darts, Falcons or Novas, there are many 4 doors in those models to be found cheap, and the 4 doors are almost always in way better shape than a 2 door of the same model. Not having to repair rust or damage to the body and having a good interior to start with will save you a lot of bucks. Dont underestimate a 4 door car as being a good value and a worthwhile choice. They make great sleepers, and you have more room for your friends too.


 Both of my Darts are 2 doors, but Ive been looking at some 4 doors lately and will probably end up getting a couple of them sooner or later.


For me , its all about being different from the other guys. A 4 door Dart or Valiant with a 402 stroker pumping out 500 horses  would definately be a step in that direction!


The advice about going with a 350 is sound however if you want to build something strong and cheap. Theres no way you can build a Ford or Mopar as cheaply as a Chevy. Go find a little old lady selling her 4 door Nova from the 70s and build a 350 for it. That might be as cheap as it gets.

Oh I forgot, speaking of 4 doors, theres one other really cheap way to go, pick up an old cop car at a surplus auction. With a cop car, you not only get a high performance engine, but a heavy duty tranny, rear end, suspension, cooling system, and brakes, a total package.

dont ever go ford..haha....go with the gm g body's which include the malibus, maonte carlos, cutlasses etc. or if you can find any cheap enough an old nova or dart are light and pack a punch

i would try a 94-95 chevy s-10 their cheap and purfect for a v8 depending where you live it might not be street legal so id check on that or try a late 70s thunderbird (i almost bought 1 of these without an engine for ten bucks!!!!!!) yes i know there big and they have those ugly windows on the side but remember big cars usually have big engines

also check estate sales and auctions (as an added bonus when the owner is dead they usually dont clean them out so you get a large selection of stuff with it)
