I'm looking for a set of headers that will work on a big block chevy going into a 1980 ElCamino. The only ones that advertise for this application is Hooker with thier Super Competitions. Does anyone know of anything else that would work? Thanks

You'll need something with fairly tight clearances. I would try a camaro or another smaller car. You might have to dimple some pipes though. Hooker super comps are a waste of money unless it's an allout 9 second race car IMO. Mitch "I'm a Mean Machine, Drinking Gasoline and Honey you can make my motor run"-Guns and Roses

I believe the Hooker headers, due to huge tube size, may interfere with the steering shaft in the area of the drv. side upper a-arm and require u-joints in the shaft. If it were me I would buy the cheapest regular-size headers made to fit a '64-'72 A-body and risk that they would either bolt in or need only minimal hammer or cut-weld modification. One reason not many companies list for '80 El Caminos is 'cause of a weird trans crossmember which was not really made to accomodate dual exhaust, if you were willing to do modificatons on that it might open up such possibilities. The main thing is, will they fit around the motor mount/crossmember area (the '80 has bigger mounts which could possibly be replaced by the early type) and then between the trans and frame (I'm sure you can forget about stock shift linkage). I once called Heddman with a tech question and they were pretty helpful, you might try the same with them or whoever, perhaps they might give you the accurate picture. Also there are companies that sell custom headers and parts like j-bends that have knowledgeable people disguised as cranky old farts with lots of experience but not much more patience for answering questions...hey, take what you can get.
