What would be the stock gear ratio Chevrolet put in a bone stock run of the mill 1970 El Camino with a smallblock 350, and a 12 bolt rearend???  The car is nothing special just a run of the mill car.  The badgine says 350 on the car.  Any idea's?  Trying to find out for a friend who is getting ready to start fixing it up and so he can make a plan of action to get the car how he needs it for his purposes, he needs to know the rearend gearing in it.

you'd probably be better off, taking down the ID number and searching it up...go to Barnes and Nobles and look for a book. Might even find it online...

If it is a posi that hasn't been tampered with there should be a metal tag back there bolted on it should say, but other wise the #'s game or one of those dial wheels from Summit, just being a plain jain doesn't mean much because people could get what they wanted at the time wish your friend luck. Sorry I'm not much more help The 73 I once had had a 308 I believe,

If it is a posi, you can jack up the rear, put the trans in neutral, and count the driveshaft revolutions for one revolution of the tire.  2 and 3/4 revolutions of the driveshaft would be 2.73.
