For all you import haters: This #### is about to get ugly, Long story short. I road race not redneck qtr, stay straight and see who wins ####. I had a 2001 WS6 6-Speed, I sold it and bought a 1991 240SX.
Handles much better, 10 fold, faster in the qtr mile, I am now winning a couple of raod races and not spinng off the track in turns due to better handling. On the recent Drift event, you guys noted the GTO in the event, but said the event needed the V/8 roar, it does not! Push rod engines are ancient dinosaurs, my 2.4 liter DOHC engine is putting down 365 rwhp and 310 foot pounds. I can walk all over a damn c-5 any day. At the qtr mile track (MEMPHIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY), I eat them for lunch. With or without nitrous. I am not a fart can, 19 year old ricer wannabe, my car is flat black with Volk gram lites, Nitto's all four corners and Garrett T3/04 Turbo. Pushing 15 pounds. I love some American sports cars, but let's face it, they are getting slower and are still boats.
The new C-6 is an abomination, the 03 and up Cobra's are pretty great but the best recent is by far the fourth gen F-Bodies. The Viper is not even considered and American sports car since its designers are of Italian decent from the Ferarri corp. Drifting is an emerginf sport that is going to be bigger than NASCAR, wait. It is harder to perform, the cars a nicer looking, they are nearly as fast, and you can drive them home. Nissan, Toyota and Mazda are able to build 1.6 to 3.0 liter engines to push mad horsepower and the Chevelle, Nova, Camaro and Corvette group are pissed that a car half thier weight with twice that horse power bust thier ass on the road.

We are all proud of you. I posted a reply to your in-out post. Please read it and take my advice. Maybe some additional advice might be some spelling and grammar classes?
As far as "haters", practice what you preach. It people like you that fuel the whole import vs domestic and 4 vs 8 cyl animosity. Even though my preference has been, and always will be, classic American muscle cars, I have always kept an open mind to what the trends are today. People like you close lots of doors. It seems like alot of the kids today have a chip on thier shoulder when it comes to cars of your generation vs cars of my generation.
If you are a true enthusiast, then you would be aware of and respect all kinds of performance cars.

ok buddy. yeah your WS6 might not have been the car for you, and you found one that you like. Good for you. and congratulations. But I want to let you in on something. I don't care and neither do most people on this board. We could go toe to toe all day about which hemisphere makes a better car but that would take a long time and you have obviously made up your mind already so take your business elsewhere. I do have a couple questions for you though. as for half the weight. I have a 73 challenger and you are sayin your car weighs like 1500lbs. I don't think so but ok. and the IRS thingy. Yeah newer Mustang cobras have those. so don't act like it is foreign to our car crafting world. ok?

Hey fella, I sorta feel you in the generation thing. A lot of young people are jumping on the whole import scene. It is new and catchy. I am 23 though so don't stereotype all of us young guys because some still know a good ol american v8.

Point well taken. I'm 35, but got out of working with cars for a long time (family, job, etc). I got back into it a few years ago and felt like a total foreigner. I've hooked up with a few good classic car folks here and will be getting into the local shows starting in May. It was a shock to me to see what was being shown last year, and not only that, the friggin attitude that most of the "kids" had. But in any case, I apologize, I shouldnt stereotype based on age, only car preference. Ha!

I do plan to hit the nats. I live all of 15 miles away, so why not? Me in my '77 Grand Prix (yes, I know...), my old man in his '67 olds Cutlass (10.63 @ 128), and possibly my uncle Paul in his big-block '92 Camaro (11.15 @ 121). Oh, and as far as imports go in this group, our usual response is "Feel free to try, but don't expect us to wait up for you."

I've been to a few drifting "races" before and to tell you the truth i didnt really enjoy them. I've never really been into the "tuner" import cars, they seem to be based more on appearance than performance, although i'll admit there are some imports out there that can haul. I'm only 15 years old and i just got my first car, a 1970 El Camino. Not all young people are into the imports....

"The Viper is not even considered and American sports car since its designers are of Italian decent from the Ferarri corp."
Sorry, you're dead wrong. The design team was composed of veteran chrysler corp. engineers. When the viper was designed they had no money to head hunt Ferrari engineers. Perhaps you're thinking of the 3 Lamborghini engineers that worked as consultants on the GTS-R viper? Eithier way, the majority of the designers were in house chrysler engineers. The viper's engine is derived from the biggest engine in their inventory, a V10 truck engine, can't get much more American than that. That fact in and of itself screams American design, who else would use an 8+ liter pushrod engine in their top of the line sports car? The engine block is aluminum and it uses a completely different cylinder head, but it still has the same fundamental architecture as the truck engine.

Well lets not get out of hand here. I am 23 and I have a 70 Chevelle SS, my dream car. And I have no problem wooping on all the little imports that think that my "DINOSAUR" 1968 427cubic inch, (7.0L for you that can't tell the difference) pushrod V8 is slow. Now I dont know about you, but every little ricer that has had the balls to step up to the line with me in their lightened 2500 pound buzzbomb with a fart can out the back have only seen the red in my tail lights in my 3600 pound peace of Detroit muscle and smelling the exhaust comming from my true duals. So if you think you have what it takes, come and get it.

Im curious what do you pull and what do you eat cause im pretty sure what you pull and eat you eat dust and pull like what anywhere between 13's and 16's face it dude push rod engines perform. They always have they always will so why dont you sell your thing and buy a scooter cause your not gonna go any faster 15 pounds you have to wait for the pressure to build why dont you supercharger it its constent power jesus im not the most smartest person here but at least i know what a perfomrance machine is.
