Hi everyone. I have an 88 camaro project that was on hold for last few years but I am trying to get back into it. 2 summers ago I spent entire summer scrubbing and mediablasting underside. All metal that was uncovered was immediately treated with zinc phosphate solution(picklex 20). Then I started painting(Zero Rust) a little beforing having to stop everything for the winter. In the spring, some 5 months later I found fresh rust coming back right through the paint. Car was in the garage the entire time.
Now I need to figure out how to proceed. Last thing I want is spend another summer doing the same thing.
1) One option i was thinking of is having entire frame acid dipped. Anyone know of a place within 6-8 hour driving distance from Rochester, NY (western NY)?
2) Does anyone happen to live in the area who can stop by and possibly share some wisdom?
3) I belong to several very active forums that discuss LS1/LT1 engines and 3rd/4th gen f-bodies. However most people on those forums do not restore these cars. Is there a good restoration forum where I can find more people doing this type of thing?
4) can anyone offer any general words of advice?
