I want to put a GM 502 into an 87-93 Fox body mustang coupe. I have emailed Lemons Headers for exhaust and Anthony Jones Engineering for motor mounts/k-member. I also found an old article about putting a 460 into one, which showed that I would need the brake master cylinder for manual brakes. I plan on using an extra TH400 that I have from one of my 454SS trucks.
My question is, does anyone know of any literature for this swap or is there anyone out there that has done this and can give some tips? The people I know have done the SBC swap, but I wanted to speak with someone who had done the BBC swap.
You can email me at rededSS454@yahoo.com">DrededSS454@yahoo.com

This isn't a real request. You're just trying to pick a fight.
Put your cheap, ordinary "502" out of your "fleet" of trucks into a Camaro or a NOVA and sell the Fox to someone who will appreciate it for what it is. Or build a proper 460 stroker for the 'Stang and bolt it in with mounts available from several sources.
If these Chevy chumps keep "dising" Fords, I guess I really am going to have to swap a DOHC Ford Cammer into a vintage Corvette . . . . If its not TURBOCHARGED, you're not finished yet . . . .

Not that a Cammer-powered 'Vette wouldn't be interesting, but I'd rather see all that effort go into a Ford-powered Ford.
The Chevy-in-a-Ford street rodder goofs aren't really "dissing" Ford. In fact they are admitting that Fords are better hot rod and street machine material than same-year Chevys. It's just that they are just too cheap/dumb/lazy/ignornant/hidebound to build a Ford-powered Ford.
Ford power can exceed virtually any performance objective (except maybe Top Fuel or when excessively rules-limited).
That being said, I doubt DrededSS is serious about hacking together a 502 pony.
Don't let'em pull your chain, Bro!

Its all about being cheap and reliable. thats what chevy power is, and its fairly easy to make it. I'm thinking he means a crate 502.

There are, upon this earth, few things that irritate me more than to see sights like '32 ford hot rods with a blown chevy 350, and at my local dragstrip Route 66 Raceway Joliet, IL I met a man with a georgeous 67 Fastback Mustang running low 8's but much to my disgust I saw within this beast an engine with the distributor in the rear, yes a chevy motor. My fellow Ford friend, I am with you in saying that these bowtie boys need to quit intoxicating our Fords with gm filth! Amen

So you like Mustangs and Chevy engines? What you're doing is messing up a really good thing. Mustangs earned their reputation with FORD engines in them! They deserve to keep the truly correct engine! You Chevy guys howl when you see a Camaro with a Ford engine in it, why do you desicrate our Fords with your GM junk?
Don't tell me Chevy's are more reliable YOU'RE WRONG! Short rods: short life!
Don't tell me They are cheeper to build, Well maybe a little. I'Ve GOT A 400CUIN WINDSOR THAT I BUILT FOR LESS THAN $2000. Beat that cheep Chevy chump!
And old Ford builders, don't say that you used a Chevy so you didn't have to modify the firewall. Ford has a short water pump that makes the 302 exactly the same length as a Chevy. They also have pans that will allow you to put the Ford engine in any chassis.
All the Chevy chump excuses are null and void. They are Chevy LIES!
That ought to stir things up.

anyone can build a motor for 2000. but its the power that it make that counts. I got my 454 for 1500 rebuilt, but it had a cam too small for me. so add in 500 for a new cam and carb. well look, 54 more cubic inches for that same price.

54 cu.in. and 200lbs. I've got 466 that I was going to put into my 67 Fairlane but I wanted the driveablilty that only a small block can provide. The small block gives me over 450 hp. so I'm satisfied. I also have aluminum heads that I bought new in that $ 2 grand. any aluminum heads on your big block.

wait, im confused, where did the small block come into the coversation. is it the one with the aluminum heads? how is a small block more driveable. you have to use a bigger cam to make the power of a big block, so that makes no sense. there are no aluminum heads on my big block, havent needed them yet as I dont need alot more flow.

My small block is the 400 CU.IN. Windsor that I've been talking about. The aluminum heads are Procomp heads that are figured into the $2000.00. The reason that I've not chosen to use my big block is weight on the front axel. The big block adds 200 lb. and the small block is now lighter than the original 289 that was in the car from the factory.
I'm not racing the small block and am only showing and driving it. I want to be able to handle the car in traffic so I want light weight on the front. Understand? The car has been driven most recently with a stock two barrel 302 in it and it is reasonably quick. I'm sure that it will get down the road very well with the 400 incher. I think the term that is used now is "G" machine. Though I don't know if my car really fits that catagorie.
I have added rack and pinion steering, air bags, disc brakes and a narrowed 9" with fat tires on the rear. I hope it will handle well enough to race with the sports cars. Only time will tell.

Cheap and lazy--the Chevy way, I guess. Maybe that's why they (GM) are closing all those plants and cutting 30,000+ American Jobs.

Cheap, yeah, I'm on a fixed income and have to watch every penny.
Lazy? I should think not! You design a rack and pinion and air suspension for a 67 Fairlane. When I started this there were not any kits for either of these mods. I had to do all the engineering and try to make them work all by myself. I understand that there are kits for these mods now and the one for my rack and pinion looks a lot like the one I designed. This car is rear steer and all the popular rack kits are front steer. Won't work in my car. Unless, of course you put a Mustang II front end on it (you know, like Heidts, Fat man, etc....lots of money).
Well, I'm proud of the work I've put into my car and don't care who knows it. As soon as a couple more pieces arrive I should be able to finish the engine and then I hope to have it back on the street. I'll keep you posted.
