hey guys, heres another question,   i,,, have a 85 t-bird with a 5.0,,,,,   i bought the car off a teenager and figured it'll be cool to fix up a thunder chicken.not alot out there.    first, i replaced the collapsed shocks, then new rotors and calipers, master cylinder, exhaust, headers to the tip,   now my inner tie rods are bad.    i went to go buytthe parts. i figured since the inners wetre bad, i would buy outer as well,   speaking of 40 bucks  a piece, the napa dude said "why dont u put a new rack and pinion on since it icludes all of what i need and put together already."   sounds like a good idea but how much trouble am i really getting into.which way would u all go if only the inners r bad.

I'd go ahead and replace the whole rack and pinion. Odds are, a car that old with that many miles is probably gonna need a rack eventually, might as well go ahead and get it out of the way in one shot. It's not that changing the rack unit is hard, it just takes some time and patience. And it'll make the car feel like new when you're driving.

I agree,in all good reasoning, changing the rack will give you the best overall outcome.Be sure to get your toe alighned asap to prevent unwanted wear issues.
