Same as GMs?  You wanna know why they are made north and south of the border?  Because of the damn greedy unions.

"I like how you admire the boys behind Perot's massive sucking sound , the sound of jobs getting sucked out America"

I'm definitely NOT in favor of jobs leaving the USA or for the American auto industry to become only transplant assembly plants beholden to their Japanese masters.

American cars need to become more competitive. IMHO that means--in part--looking back to Miller, Fronty, Offy and yes Peugeot, for inspiration and by taking the best new engineering ideas from around the world and building them here at an affordable price with world-class quality.

Blindly concluding that real American cars are only low-tech pushrod V-8s and that anything else is "rice" is simply sticking one's head in the sand.   We need to adapt, not ossify!

Face it!  Most ricers are ignorant.  Talkin about NOS.  Slinging the word "turbo" everywhere.  Putting big fart pipes and neon lights on their parents leased hondas.  Revvin their cars at the mom in the minivan in the next lane.  Putting huge, non functional, wings on the back of their (now non functional) trunks.  And most of these guys don't even work on their own cars, let alone know how an engine works.  I am 17 and go to a Colorado high school where everyone is talkin how their import runs 10 up at Bandimere.  Bandimere has an elavation of 6,000+ ft.  Most of these guys have never seen a real drag race, let alone actually taken their own car (or their parents leased car I should say) down the quarter mile.  But I must say that I find a 2.3L engine that turns out 800+ hp quite impressive.  The real problem with ricers is not the car itself, its the punk doing 80 mph in a school zone.  I don't think Uncle Ben (let alone Uncle Sam) would be proud.

To me if it is an import it is a ricer.

Why is that, though?  The term ricer comes from rice burner.  Rice burners are called that because Asains sterotypically eat a lot of rice, and also grow a lot of rice, therefore they burn rice in their cars.  How are European imports rice?  Europe doesn't concume record amounts of rice like Asia.  Either way, wether it burns rice or canoles, if it doesn't come from North America, I won't buy it.

Here's the deal with ricers (posers).  Mom and dad buy junior a brand new $20,000 Honda.  Junior proceeds to add a big ole #### wing, a 8" coffee can fart pipe, a crapload of stickers (which are worth 5 HP a piece), and enough neon to put Vegas out of business.  BAM!! I got me a fast car!!  So he thinks.  This guy is a complete moron.   Now you get a guy with a twin-turboed 96 Mazda RX-7 with no flash and no flare and he proceeds to whip the crap out of you because he does his homework.  This guy is a regular gearhead just like the rest of us, only he prefers Japanese technology.  He is not a ricer.  Just like the fake Pro-Street movement back in the 80's, all show and no go.  Just my input, ya'll be cool.

Sure drinking kills brain cells, but only the weak ones!!

Rice, Brautwurst, Canole's, what ever, if it wasn't made in this country it's crap. And yes even the American car manufacturers have been tainted by the dark side of the import motor. And if it is a OHC motor it is a rice motor to me and sadly to say the that includes the LT5.
