i have a 30001b car a 410 hp 440 lb ft motor a stock th350 tranny 28-10.5-15 mt/et slicks.doing a gear change just wondering if a 4.56 gear ratio would be to much or to little to run in the 8th mile.

4.56 or 5.10 gears should be just fine. You want to get as much speed up as quickly as possible since it is basically a half track race.

You could probably get away with a slightly lower gear than 4.56. A 5.13 should put you around 6000 rpm at the traps ideally...

That is a good point. If there is indeed 400+ horsepower going into it and car hooks hard (which slicks should help) it may be pushing a TH350. It's not impossible that it won't stay together but it may be quite the load...

Yeah, you'll need a pretty steep gear to get up to speed and RPm as quickly as possible. I'd go with the 5.10.
A TH350 can take that punishment if you treat it right. If you need to beef it up, call the guys at JW Transmissions, they build some of the strongest TH350s out there.
