Hey CC, I can't get enough of the underdog! I've been a AMC fan for years and am currently in the process of a 360 rebuild as we speak. I'm looking foward to your 360 article to see if there's any tricks you guys have discovered that I may have missed. I look foward to seeing more of them in the upcoming months, so don't let us little guys down. Keep 'em coming please. AMCya later, thanks.

If beatings with the AMC stick is what you fine folks at CCMag have been dishing out of recent, then I am ready for some more abuse!
I love the recent coverage that AMC's have been getting, it's been a long time in coming.
I have a '68 Javelin with a 393 (360 bored .045" over with a 401 crank). She's got a big Engle hyd cam (K58 hyd) with .550" lift and a Speed Demon 750 carb. I hope I have enough motor, and traction from my Mickey Thompson ET radials (235/60 15's) to break into the 11's.
Keep up the good work CC Mag

My husband is in the process of restoring a 1971 Javelin AMX. It's a beautiful shade of pumpkin orange. It's been off the road for over 20 years and was sitting in his mom's garage until last Summer when it was flatbedded down to our house at the Jersey shore. It is slowly starting to come back to life. The only thing that I can say right now is, by the time this baby is back on the road, we're going to have one hell of an in & out list for you, and hopefully some great photos to go with it.

I wanted to thank everyone at Car Craft for giving the AMC's some "airtime". We all realize that our group is small in comparison to the other makes...only fair considering that the auto manufacturer we favor has been gone for some 20 years now. I've been a 70's Jeep CJ guy for more than 10 yrs. now and I've grown to love those V-8's. Especially the 401's! Thanks guys...and I look forward to the new 360 build up article.

Just wanted to drop you a line of thanks for running the recent coverage of the AMC brand. I bought my first AMX 3 years ago and di I get grief from all my Mopar buddies. They don't say near as much now that the AMC's are getting more press and als the response that I get from my car. I had to go to 4 dufferent stores to get the Feburary issue and have recently subscibed to CarCraft after a 15 year lapse.
THanks
Todd Sears
P.S.
Here is a picture of my 70AMX on Power Tour last year. Also the car in the back ground is the YearOne 69 Camero.

nice to see amc stuff in your mag, i am a fan of all types of muscle cars and anything automotive. i presently bracket race a 1973 jeep wagoneer that has run 13.0s at 102mph and have just finished a 401 40 over with all the good stuff (indy heads, solid comp cam, ross pistons, etc) that should put me in the high 11s low 12s, i've raced mopar nats, amc nats at cordova, and lots of local races and went to vegas bracket nats this past nov. also have done crazy stuff like cut up a lincoln (just like old articles caddy hack and the one a mopar mag did back in the 90s) to see how fast we could go without touching motor, we ended up in 1/8 mile going 8.90 while starting at 12.40s and i have pictures and i think it would make a great mag article that would cover the ford fans and let them know how we compare to the rest, a friend and me had a contest, we both had 472 caddy motors of 73 vintage so the rules were no motor mods and a 500 dollar limit, he built a fiero with motor up front and a 10 bolt rear and i built a yugo with motor inn rear and a frame coming out the back with a 9 inch called "yugozilla" and he end up going 8.262 and i went 8.266, lol. lots of fun, thanks for letting me write, todd

Being a fan of AMC and an owner of a REBEL MACHINE I am very happy that you are giving AMC some well deserved due. We have some great cars here in the Northern Illinios area including a 68 AMX that runs in the 9's without any laugh gas.
The buildup articles are extremely helpful for those of us looking to revive or improve what we have given the current situation with parts availability.
Hats off to the aftermarket for starting to recognize that there are enough enthusiasts out there to justify more aftermarket parts.
Thanks for all the help
Best Regards,
Frank Lanza, Jr.

Like the other 52 (so far) replies, I'd appreciate more AMC articles. If you do as promised, I'll subscribe. See you in mid-March...?!
I'm leaning toward subscribing anyway, since Mr Frieberger's back; no sense in doing it if you're just gonna can the long-awaited 360 rebuild, though.
Respectfully,
Paul!

Hi Car Craft and fellow AMCers, appreciate the coverage and build up, esepcially of the Rambler coming this summer. Lots of buzz, and exposure generated by it. Tell Doug Glad I got some parts for his car also. For anyone inspired by the Car Craft Rambler buildup, who might consider buying a AMC or Rambler, I have hundreds of free leads of them for sale listed in the Shut Up & Drive file of my website; also you can post your own car for sale, buy, trade, want under the AMC Swap Meet 'message boards' too for free. Have more new files under "galleries" and more tech, decodes, and helpful info under "parts" file too. So stop in and say hi, and leave with a new American Motors or Rambler vehicle. Again, thanks to Car Craft for the build up and coverage! Eddie Stakes' Planet Houston AMX www.planethoustonamx.com

Oh..now you decide to build a Rambler! ![]() I owned a 64 220 2 door for 13 years. Drove it for 6 months in that time. I swapped in a Chevy 283 with camel hump heads,Cam Dynamics energizer cam, ancient Edelbrock dual plane intake, rochester 4bbl and ram horn exhaust manifolds. Behind that was a B&M shifted 350 TH. I had the shift kit but never installed it. I swapped in an 8" rear axle from a Comet Grabber. The interior was butt ugly (read whatever I needed to get it on the street). I finally parted with it 2 years ago because I was never going to finish it. A friend has it now. Hopefully he will finish it. Good luck, looking forward to the build.

Aha, finally someone is seeing more than the usual IN-YOUR-FACE, everbody's got one car! I have been doing AMC/Ramblers since 1970. I started the Southern California Ramblers Chapter of AMCRC (American Motors Corporatio Rambler Club) in 1986. Have owned many of these cars, still do. There are two '66 Americans in our family. One is a first year Rogue, the other a two-door hardtop with every thing we could do to make the 6 cylinder quick. And it is, visit me for tech help or to see one of the fastest, coolest looking Americans around. Carcan be seen on the website for "AMC Rambler Rogue Registry" , this site highlights these cars by year. Ours is pale green/yellow, listed under the name Christopher Kozicki. Car has many mods and upgrades, has put several "fast cars" to shame.
