I really enjoy your AMC articles.  They're the main reason for my subscription.  I have a '71 AMX that I've been solo road racing, primarily at Blackhawk Farms in Rockton, IL and Gingerman in South Haven, Mich.  Both tracks are about 2 miles long and have about 11 turns, kinks, and sweepers.  My AMX has won 48 of the past 52 races in B/P with the series of events sponsored by Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs.  You can see my car at their web site on their "autocross pictures" pages.  It's the red one.  I love that car! You can also verify past race results on various other pages of their site.  There's four of us AMC guys racing in this series....all either dominating their class or doing very well.  Keep up the good work.      Ray Larson

WOW! The March issue was GREAT. I've included links to a 390 AMX that I'm building. You'll have to excuse the amount of dust covering the car as it's been in the shop for awhile. The pictures of the engine show cast iron heads. They oozed coolant in three places during run-in so I'm currently in the process of installing Indy street heads. The car is essentially ready for the engine and final engine bay wiring.

I own a 1969 AMX with a 390 V8.  It currently has over 315 hp. The trans is an automatic Borg Warner M12.

Currently I am in the process of restoring it. I have installed a 2.25 pipes and ultra flow dynamax dual mufflers. I had Rebuilt the trans.  I plan on replacing the bushings and adding edelbrock shocks. I intend to repaint  it white  and the original red racing stripes.  At the time of the repainting, I plan on rebuilding the engine.

So any ideas that you guys have for rebuilding the engine etc or any articles where I can and how to do the work on this old amc engine would be great. Information on Amc engine parts is rare. So keep the articles coming.

By the way check out So California Amx Club's Webb Page. There is a lot of us out there in the club. We meet at the Fuddruckers in Pasadena once a month.

Yes , the AMC crowd does appreciate whats been done so far . AMC,s need more coverage , we,re not expecting an AMC article each issue . But, dont forget us . We,re out here , in our garages and driveways . We,re at the drags , working on our cars just as hard as everyone else. We,re pushing hard against that old "under dog " wives tale and winning , both at the drags and shows .

David Freiburger , your posts on amcforum.net have attracted a lot of attention, and conversation. On this site there is a large by huge AMC drag day coming up called GAD. And a  AMC powered , PHR engine masters contestant on this site . These two items should make good material for future CarCraft/AMC articles ..77.

More AMC. More AMC. Love all the AMC articles the past few month's. I'm 13 and hope to have one when I can drive. AMC is in my blood, since 1 of my uncles had a Machine, another had a 74 AMX and a Rambler, my Grandpa has had a ton of them, worked at the local Rambler dealer, and owns a near perfect 77 Matador that he bought new. My dad has owned about a dozen Javelins, some Renaults, and now has a red 69 AMX 390, and a 2 owner 69 343 Javelin (Blue on Blue). My Moms grandpa, who died before I was born, even managed the local AMC dealer. We all love to read your AMC articles, and as you can tell we're a Kenosha Crew.

Long Live the Rambler!

I have two 1972 Gremlin X cars.  I am in the planning stage of buliding one as a street machine.  I just bought a 1978 360 engine.  I would love to see any article on these cars.

Thanks

In all honesty I think primedea needs to start a new rag from reading all of these replies.  I once owned a gremlin  I got to keep it a whole month before I got caught driving towards the city I was 10.  I have a question though I always seem to be helping jeep guys with there rigs and the intakes all seem dificult to seat is there a trick to this from all of you amc guys or am I just unlucky at this maybe its just reaching over 35's.  I guess when every one is this enthusiastic I will never find a cheap enough javilin they sure look sweet.

Keep 'em coming!  I'm working on a 64 Rambler Classic.  Will get twin turbo EFI 401, TH400, GV-O/D drivetrain.  Long term, high cost project.  Won't be ready for glossy print for a couple of years.

There's alot of new equipment out there from Edelbrock (heads, intake, cams, shorty headers, EFI) and INDY cylinder heads (heads and intakes)  Cam companies are also starting to offer more choices.  Even the distributor companies are posting more standard AMC offerings.  It would be great to see a multi-issue article series that looks at a good solid short block and makes modifications one step at a time and then show the dyno sheets.  It would be even better if you could run a 360 and a 401 concurrently.  There is a tremendous knowledge base at amcforum.net that could assist with technical aspects.

As a subscriber to Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, and Super Chevy, it would be great to read more articles on AMC (which will probably never happen with CHP or SC, and rightly so) rather than trying to transfer knowledge and technical advancements from the Chevy database.

Keep up the great work.

If you want to see some local ramblers drop by Fuddruckers in Pasadena on Feb 5, 2005.  Some of the members of the socal amx group will be there.  Take a look at www.socalamx.net for some of the events we have been to.
