I just got the feb 05 issue and in the tech section there is an article about amc and on page 76 in the bottom right hand corner there is a picture of two cars. i beleive the top one is a 69 amx, and the bottom one is an amx 2 prototype which is a very very rare amc car.

The cars you are wondering about in the Feb. 05 Issue are two AMX's. The blue car on the op appears to be a 1969 AMX painted Beale Street Blue Metallic, a color first offered in 1969
The AMX on the bottom is a custom conversion which could be purchased from Craig Breelove. The car was called the Breedlove AMX 600, and the bolt-on kit could be purchased for $700. The cover shot on the December 68 issue of MOTOR TREND showed this rare car conversion. Not sure if anyone knows how many of the kits were actually sold. It is a very rare car!

The car was purchased by an Edelbrock employee off a consignment lot many years ago. The owner of the used car lot called Craig Breedlove and he came out and sold the car personally. It is one of the original Breedlove cars. If you look closely at the photo you can see a Big Bad Green AMX parked next to it. douglas

Bruce Nottingham (Perry, IA last I checked) has one of these that started life as 69 SS amx. According to him, Breedlove campaigned the car in Orange County in the early 70s. He has original pictures of the car going down the strip. The car has been updated over the years and currently runs as "the sheriff of nottingham".

Hi
I think that the "sheriff of notingham" car is an altogether different car
that had the aftermarket breedlove kit on it.
Thanks ,Jeannie

In the Feb. 05 issue the 2 AMC's are a rare 69 AMX in Beale Street Blue (top), and the Aerodynamix AMX (bottom). The Aerodynamix was a body kit sold to AMC dealers, and was developed by AMC record setter Breedlove, who scored 108 speed records with a 68 AMX. At $600 few (if any) of the fiberglass kits sold. And keep up the AMC articles, they rock!

This is a reply to all of the above posts
It's been fun watching what people have to say about my "barn cars" but here are some facts about them.
1) It's not an AMX 2 prototype!
2) It is a very rare car being 1 of 1. It is"THE" Breedlove AMX 600 that was pictured in Motor Trend Dec. 68. It was repainted red white & blue after that article.
3) No Breedlove AMX 600 "aerodynamx" kits were ever sold to any dealers, like the Barris cars in the Dec.68 article it was a concept to pitch the design to AMC. In fact only two kits were ever made. One is on Bruce Nottingham's SSAMX, the other is on my car which I bought from Craig Breedlove in 74/75?
Bruce Nottingham use to work for Breedlove in the 60s/70s. He bought his SSAMX from my father's AMC dealership in Inglewood CA. His car was originally called, "Trippin The Lights Fantastic", and was run here on the west coast.
4) Yes, that blue AMX with the white stripes is a 69, And the green car next to the Breedlove car is a BBG AMX, the previous owner had painted it backwards. The car is mostly black with a shadow mask green hood.
Thanks
Dennis
