Aftermarket auto parts industry have made the given its customers the convenience of purchasing affordable parts. Most aftermarket parts businesses do not enjoy the support or the recommendation of the car manufacturers that they are selling their parts. That fact, for me is quite saddening. These businesses, for me, reduces monopoly in selling parts and of course, improves the quality of parts sold in the market.
American Honda recently released their statement against the use of aftermarket or alternative parts for Honda and Acura vehicles. Their stand is to "ensure that the parts and components were designed and built to provide the same fit, function, safety, and structural integrity as when the vehicle was initially made."
This company position was also supported by Honda Canada.
Whether this is a customer value on the roll or just the same old marketing pitch, we are just the one to judge. As for me and for my Autopartswarehouse buds, its just another advertising campaign we have to ignore.

Manufacturers have been saying that for decades. I've seen gm vehicles from the at least the 70's and probably stretching back to the 50's that had a little label underhood somewhere that says to use only ac delco replacement parts. I know Ford, Dodge and most others say right in the owners manual that they recommend only factory replacement parts. Honda just came out and said it publically (probably since most people don't read their owner's manuals which is a shame in itself). The reason they say that is when someone uses an aftermarket part that isn't as high a quality as the factory and then has a problem and complains to the manufacturer.

I don't really know if original parts are the best replacement parts for your car. I had a 99 ford ranger and the ford factory bulbs went out so quick. 3 months or less, then I went to autozone and got Silvia aftermarket brake lights bulbs and the bulbs lasted over 2 years. I never trust the manufacturer because in my opinion most parts are not as quality as aftermarket parts. I mean why do aftermarket parts come out? Don't they come out to be better than the original parts that a car comes from. Thats my 2 cents.

Have you seen the prices of Honda parts? Ouch! No wonder people steal Hondas and strip them. A ten year old Accord is worth more in pieces.
Let's face it. Dealerships are making profits off of selling cars anymore. They make money fixing cars and selling parts. So anything to scare the unknowing owner in spending money there ups their profits.

I agree. Manufacture parts are so expensive,You cant get them without paying high prices. If they want you to buy from them, they should drop prices and give lifetime warranty on parts like auto-zone and advanceauto give . I just ordered 2 interior door handles for 01 prizm. $66.00 counting tax. Dealer item. No luck at local junk yard.

i have no complain about there prices because most of their parts were outsourced but i can say, one thing that's killing our savings is that tax well that's the law we have nothing to do with it.
