i have a constant popping that ive tried diagnosing to no prevail. im am now looking at the intake. is the airgap too much for my stock 350 with small heads (1.72) im thinking raw fuel is pouring into the cylinders causing the pop im thinking is a timing issue. does anyone have info on this and what i can do? should i just get another intake and save this for when i install 1.94s and a bigger cam?

If you changed the intake from the stock intake; you may have a lean condition caused by the much larger plenum area in the new intake. This is size of the ports and area directly under the carb. Because it is bigger; it needs more fuel to keep the air/fuel ratio in the proper range.
Not knowing what kind of carb you are running. But you will need to go up on the jet sizes. I would go up two steps at a time. Also, might need a bigger accelerator pump nozzle to give you a bigger squirt of fuel when the throttles are opened.
One other thing to look for is a vacuum leak around the gasket areas. Bolts can come loose after running the motor a few and need re tightening. A can of carb cleaner sprayed around the intake and vacuum lines can help you find the leaks.
