ok im in the middle of a lt1 swap into a 96+s10. i have the motor out of a 94 camaro lt1 the car had no tranny but was originally auto. so i was looking on forums and was told that u could get a t5 from a v6 camaro and put a v8 bell on it. i went to the salvage yard and pulled a t5 from a 98 camaro with the v6 that i thought would swap in easier due to the electronic speed sensor ,, but now im looking for a bellhousing. i had a bellhousing in the shop from an older v8 iroc that i tried ,but it wont bolt to the transmission. i need to find something with the right bell housing to make this trans work with the lt1 part numbers would be great. u can email if im not online JonathanMaples@sbcglobal.net if not i may have to just pull an older t5 and figure out how i could get my vechical speed sensor to work so i have my speedometer

Haven't done much transplanting, I think you would want to look for 93-97
lt1 camaro doner for bell housing and the trans mission is stronger,it should be a 6 gear trans. WIEDER

yea im back from the yard,,it turns out that the first tranny i pulled was one of the few oddball t5s that will not mount to a sbc bellhousing the t5 caseing on the v6 fbody cars is scrap if your trying to put behind a sbc. i got a friend that has a old world class t5 from an old camaro that he has behind a lt1 so i know it can be done. im just gonna have to get him off his butt to go help me gather the tranny and clutch stuff to make it work. altho if it turns out that the swap will be pricey then i'll just go ahead and drop some money on the newer complete t56 setup like your talking about that was in the fbodys before they came out with the ls1 motors. oh and just for refrance the ls motors have a diffrent bolt patern on the block than the regular sbc. so the newest trannys wont work without mods.
