I bought my '73 AMX in Nov. 2001 for $550. It had its origanal motor, trans and was complete. It didn't run when I bought it, but about $40 later in tune-up parts (plugs, wires, ect.) the car ran great. It wasn't the most beautiful AMX out there but it did run. After beating the snot out of it, its now being restored. It was a nice buy. The trunk was rusted through (I live in Pa. I've seen 99 model year cars with rust), but it had headers, glass packs and ajustable air shocks in the rear. $550 not bad for a 304 (now 360) auto on the floor. Now I can't find a mid-80's Camaro for less then $1,500 that hasn't been beat to hell and back.

I'm glad I bought my AMX when I did. Now only if I would of bought that '71 Roadrunner w/ a 318 auto I found in grandma condition 3 weeks after I bought my AMX for $800.

Clean it like it's a museum piece. Tend to its needs like it's your own body. Protect it like it's your own child and Drive It Like You Stole It.

how old are most of you? from about 13-25 i thought i'd never get to own a "cool" car.at 34 i have 4,yey me.here is a simple plan.take anything american rear drive and v8 or capable to house a v8.i mean anything.then put your mind to it and make it your best possible work.when your my age or older you will always have fond memories,or maybe still own whatever it is.my very 1st car was great grampa's 50k mile 302 c4 9 inch reared 1969 fairlane 500...4 door.i was 13 i tooled around and killed the thing b4 i could drive it.i ruined it on my own.but i did learn a lot, like read read and read some more.it was ugly as sin but when i look back,i miss the thing.i have all chevrolet now.and p.s. my great grampa saved all his paper work in the car and his trade in reciept on the ford showed what he had been driving...a 1962 ss impala! you think my uncles would have let me get that car for free at 13??? me either!

When I graduated in 93 I went right to work.I didn't go to college because I wanted a musclecar NOW! My first worthwhile one was my 73 Cuda I bought when I was 20 for 1200 bucks.I put another 500 into it and beat the snot out of it (and a few other cars) over the summer of 95. 9 or 10 grand later it's still not painted. I bought (stole) my 69 383 Charger for 5 grand in 01. I'd never sell either one ,and a major factor is replacement cost. I wouldn't be able to buy either one nowadays. But if I had went to college...#$%&*!

I've known a lot of guys who put together V8 S10's.It was a much more common swap before NY's retarded emissions laws got so ridiculous (probably something to do with NY City, that's their explanation for the sky high taxes here) but apparently after 25 years a car  is exempt, not sure on trucks, probably less. A buddy of mine bought someone else's abandoned S10 project. It's already set-up for a small block, with the headers and motor mounts ( but the stock rear with the lame gears) The cab was rusted out ,among other things, but he bought a Pennsylvania parts truck for $100 and now he has a rock solid cab and fenders for it. Just TRY to find a decent parts CAR for that much! Not gonna happen, not here anyway!

i own a 78' pontiac trans am that i've owned twice, the 1st time i bought it all stock and in pretty good condition around almost 8 yrs ago for $3,000.00 he needed some money as he was in jail and 2yrs later sold for $6,000.00 to the same guy because i was buying a house, and 2yrs later i bought it back for $5,000.00 with new tires, fresh paint, new tires, and redone interior, yes he needed money againand then last year after picking up my car from a fresh rebuild on the motor and having adding performance parts (engine, tranny, rearend) a big ass tree falls on my car.......... didn't expect that one huh?    see ya hpyfkr burning out
