Valid point, and I did apologize for coming across like an as****e.  I'm wondering about *** motors because I think it would be a realtively cheap way to keep an older muscle car on the streets, maybe even a four door.  Although the Trailblazer 6 is a good idea.  Probably cheaper too.

Check out The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift . . .

I've heard if you put it on super slo-mo you can score all the tips you'll ever need for roaching up a bitchin' RED-BLOODED ALL-AMERICAN 'Stang with rice . . . .

Or maybe Ol' Darrell Waltrip could hook you up with some of his new 'Yoda buds . . . .

That said, a cross-breed engine swap is an engine swap . . . get the tape measure, a torch and some steel to make mounts from and start fabricating.

Just remember that the Detroit 3 STILL create over three times as many high paying jobs in the U.S.A. as Toyota, Nissan, Honda and all the other foreign transplants.  Eight out of ten autoworkers in the U.S. work for GM, Ford and DCX.

[check out http://levelfieldinstitute.org/

Also check out  new CC poster Speedzzter's "sano"  blog on this topic: http://speedzzter.blogspot.com/2006/07/standing-up-for-american-cars.html

Here's some of the good part:  ". . .each U.S. autoworker job generates 9.4 other U.S. jobs in the community.

When that money is exported, those multiplier jobs are generated elsewhere.

Level Field's analysis predicts that as many as 2.5 Million U.S. jobs are at risk if the Detroit 3 cannot turn things around by 2011. http://levelfieldinstitute.org/docs/lfi_report_FINAL04.pdf

And these aren't just idiot "burger-flipper" jobs near shuttered auto plants." ]

How can you feel good about defecating on that with some "Pearl Harbor 'Plant"  crammed into one of the few surviving American musclecars?

We Car Crafters ought to go out of our way to preserve American Musclecar heritage and traditions for future "young skulls full of mush" who will see mostly endless, tacky  import  "tuner" crap otherwise.

A Toyota or Lexus lump in a classic musclecar just sends the message to the kids that American stuff is worthless crap.

We've got to show them AMERICAN MUSCLE STILL RULES!

I also vote that this isn't the appropriate forum to ask questions that in any way involve Toyotas.

The day I have to use a Toyota engine is the day I quit Car Crafting for good.

I would rather see a classic American car go to the crusher than be powered by rice.

Watch out with those Un-American words, friend........

Sorry I can't help but good luck to ya with the project. I know a man from Australia who used a Lexus V8 and trans in his '84 ford capri- 350hp stock for a second hand motor from a wrecked luxury sedan that cost buttons....  makes sense to me.

OK ok too far BadHabitinVA, u know ud cry way more when american(and canadian) muscle cars go to the crusher than if u say a muscle car with a import hotbox, i say as long as it keeps one more rust free or in my case rusty hunk of american/canadian muscle outta the crusher then gitrdone

'89 Mustang 5.0L...It may be ugly but I'll show you the taillights with the drop of the hammer.

A Japanese V8 in an American car is the answer to a question that need never be asked.

Of course, if I ran one of the Big 3, I'd name a model "Iwo Jima"  or "Guadalcanal" or "Tarana" or "Hiroshima," so perhaps I'm not the most objective on this idiotic idea.

Buying a Japanese car for me is about the same thing as buying a car from Osama Bin Ladin in about fifty years.  And I don't care how many Toyota commercials those NASCAR HOs --the Waltrips-- star in . . . .

Nah. It's just like eating Chinese . . . you're hungry again in about five minutes . . . . Not much of a challenge . . . not very satisfying.

[Okay, to be fair some of those turbo Supra and Honda in import drag racing do run the number, though.  And the WRXs and EVOs are not to be messed with unless you've got big cubes, a power adder and serious traction]

Yeah, I got OWNED by an all wheel drive Eclipse with twin turbos. It had my truck by a long shot, which is saying alot. (1992 F-150, .030 over 351 Windsor, Edlebrock heads, Ford Racing long ram intake, Crane cam, Ford Racing throttle body, 100hp shot N2O, 4.11 posi gears, 10.5 tires runs mid 12s spinning the tires all the way through first.) He was behind me up to about 50 mph, and then it was like he kicked it into after burners, he blew by me like I was standing still. Very humbling experience. Now I am beginning to think that a pro-charger is in order. and maybe a 1/4 in. steel plate welded to the bottom of the bed and some cal-traks. that'll teach em.

Yeah, a Procharger is a nice piece and an easy bolt-on on an SBF.

But they're not too cheap.  And because of the geometric nature of the boost curve and the direct linkage of manifold pressure to engine RPM, a Procharger isn't going to add as much midrange power as a properly-sized turbo.  But as that "all motor vs. centrifugal supercharger"  comparison article somebody just referenced in the "We aren't rich but we aren't stupid" (I think it was in this month's 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords) demonstrates,  a centrifugal can add meaningful midrange power despite relatively low manifold pressure.

Still, for the price of a Procharger, you could be a long way down the road toward a turbo set up (but it's a lot more work)

dont turbos add extra heat to the egine bay? with exhaust being slightly plugged up like that, u'd think it would build up heat.
