WELL I NEED SOME HELP I'M BUILDING A 80 MALIBU FOR THE TRACK AND NEED SOME HELP FIGURING WHAT GEAR I NEED FOR 1/4 MILE MOTOR IS A STOUT 355 NO SPRAY POWER  GLIDE  TRANS WITH BRAKE 4000 STALL 28/10.5/15 SLICKS DON'T KNOW WEIGHT OF CAR BUT VERY STRIP DOWN

I would use a 4.10 gear ratio.

What's your max rpm,you want to shoot for the very end of your range at the line to get your best time.    WIEDER

That high a stall, you're gonna need at least a 4.56 gear. You need to get the motor up to RPM as fast as possible. I even think 4.56 is too high, you'll probably need to go into the 5's. See if anyone at your local track runs a similar G-body and setup, ask what gear they run.
