conversion in something other than what was designed?

I need to put a clutch cable or hydraulic line in my 72 Torino. I am planning a T-5 and I bought the pedals (hard to find), but I don't have any of the linkage. I don't think the linkage would allow me to use my headers either.

I am swapping from a C-4 to the T-5, if it matters.

I know what you mean about trying to find things that aren't common, this weekend (if all goes well) I am installing a TKO-600 in my '77 Skylark (behind a 455), now where this relates to you is finding the clutch petals, linkages has been a nightmare.  What I have learned is basically cables are not great for reliability though they are easiest to install. Most cables are installed on imports or small engined vehicles that do not have the clutch pressures of a larger engine/transmission combination so they don't hold up.  Hydralic clutch is what I have heard is by far the best.  Trouble I found when looking for one for my application is that the Brake Booster is in the way, if you don't have a brake booster then it should be an easy install.  If you do then see if any Ford models have boosters that are spaced off the firewall (GM F-bodies in the '80 did)  to clear the Clutch Master (even with remote resevoir).  Just make sure the petal rod pushes as straight as possible into the cluch master.  In case you are wondering by some miracle I found stock clutch linkages for my car on e-bay three weeks ago.  If it doesn't work with this engine or maybe later I will upgrade to a Hydraulic setup.  Good Luck.

PS Also if you haven't got the T-5 yet, I would seriously look at the TKO series of transmissions.

The T-5 is a freebie for now until I can afford a TKO. The owner is my best friend, and we agreed that if I break it we will split the cost of the rebuild.

The cable system is the factory install for Fox body and newer Mustangs, and since I am using a Mustang tranny and flywheel I suspect I'll be OK for a while.

I have a hydraulic kit for a  67-68 Mustang in the shop (also belongs to my buddy), and it appears we will have to butcher the firewall quite a bit to make it work.

Your project sounds great...hope to see it in the future.
