My 'puter is working again, but for how long I don't know.
Went out to video some hardcore street racing on 9-27 @ 11:30 pm.
The players-
68 Camaro with 14/32 tires, 540 BBC
70 Chevelle 10.5 tire car with a 427 on a NOS Big Shot nitrious kit with a parachute on the back (ex PSCA car)
Both cars run in the 8's at over 160 mph.
The Race-
The Chevelle gets one car length and the go, has to run on pump gas, the Camaro run only on the motor but can use race gas. The Chevelle has to fill up at the 76 station and a sample of the fuel is pulled from the Carb to make sure it matches.
The Bet-
$3,000
We get ready to video this race, and are @ 3 car lengths in front of both cars, the Camaro launches with its wheels @ 2 feet in the air, but the Chevelle goes sideways, and heads right to were we are standing, hits the curb and then continues on down the street. Chevelle lost and bent the frame, rearend and front rim and susp. We got a rude awaking that we could not get out of the way of the Chevelle, and if it had not been for the curb, we were history. Street Racing is dangerous and these cars belong at a track, but that goes on deaf ears with city officials. LACR, our local dragstrip in the Antolope Valley (Palmdale, Ca.) is closing in 18 months. |
