Well, keep in mind that I'm 18 so I haven't yet to explore the car's abilities because of high insurance risks if I get pulled over.
Constantly on the highway, I have driven between 70 to 77 mph.
In short bursts just for fun, I have gotten up to 90, but I'm trying to max out the speedometer, which is 120 mph then take a picture of that.
At least I was being honest so beware of ludrious claims.

I'm not sure, speedo reads 120. So, what does 3.08 gears with 205/70/14 tires (28 inch tires), 1 to 1 gear ratio, and a big block screaming at 5 grand make for top speed? I dont have the formula, but thats how fast i've been.

Umm...lemme think here....Fastest I think was only like...hmm...101 in a 98 z28 police interceptor camaro. I passed a dump truck that was doing 50 in a 55 and in like 1 second flat I hit 100...it was insane...those things are fast with crazy top end...speedo reads 155 and I think itd do it. but scariest was 97mph in my 81 chevy c-10 stepside with 1000lbs of engines and trannys in the back...steering?..forget about it...needless to say...i slowed down. Im hoping to see maybe 120 some time when i get my t-ram monza on the road. but I still try and keep in mind that the highest legal speed limit i have seen in my state is 70...so even though fast = fun...it also = illegal and at times dangerous. God bless and be safe. -Shred

Fastest I've ever driven a car was 130 in my old 95 Z28 6 speed car. I wouldn't do it again, I'm pretty much a wuss when it comes to crazy speeds on the street.
Right now I have an 84 Camaro with a 383 and a busted TH350, and I'm putting a T56 in it this winter. I'm sure it will run a lot faster than I ever care to when its up and running. For what its worth, I only went to the track once before the TH350 gave up the ghost, ran a 7.45@93 in the 1/8th.

I had my 93 5.0 up to 135 once, but it didnt like it much and i didnt either. I had much rather go to the strip and not chance the high priced ticket.

I hit 125 in a 2000 BMW 540 wagon on Thursday on I-25 between Windsor and Fort Collins. BMW speedometers are optimistic though, so it was probably only 115-120.

Ok - this is no fish story. The statute of limitations should apply (I hope), so here it goes. In about 1982 (probably before most of you were born) I had my Dads 72 Ranchero up to 118+ mph on the road between Vantage and WSU in Washington State. I built the Ranchero for him - it was equipped with a 390 (yes I know it didn't come that way), a C-6, and I have no idea what the rear end gears were (didn't give a rip either). All I know is the thing was powerful, fast, and drank fuel like crazy. It had a canopy on the back, and I was using it to move back to Tacoma after graduation. There was a cliff over looking a place called Washtucna just about 50 miles west of Pullman, and there was a Stater that would sit up there at the top and wait for guys like me. It was during the week and usually they weren't out there, but I guess that this was the one week day that one was around. We were miles past Washtucna and I caught the faint flicker of headlights of a car in my rear view. It was so far back that you really couldn't tell anything about it other than there was a vehicle of some kind back there. I was still hauling a##, so didn't pay much attention until my wife told me she thought that she saw lights on the top flashing. I could just hardly make it out too, but I pushed the car to the limit until the front end started to float a bit. I struck a glance at the speedo and it looked like I was pushing about 118. I hit Othello (the next small town), and pulled into the gas station there and started to fuel up. It took 10 minutes for him to catch up, but it was a cruiser. Still don't know if he was really after me or responding to another call, but I figued it was jail if it was me. When he went by, there was a collective sigh of relief. We went 55 the rest of the way home. All I can say was I was young, foolish, broke, and nobody woulda given me any bail money. My Dad woulda kicked my a## and told the cops to keep me. Really, its a good story (and true) but I would never do it again. First, I wouldn't want to tangle with the law. Second, that motor pushed that thing way faster than was safe. Believe me that there was plenty of foot feed and top end left when the front end was floating. It had all the aerodynamics of a beached whale. It may have been because of some of the stuff in the back, but there really wasn't much weight there. In order for it to be safe, the body would have to be modified, and my Dad used it as a grocery getter. Speed was not his thing.

The fastest i've ever gone was 105mph in my moms 96 t-bird. It has the SOHC 4.6 in it. The reason why the top end sucks is because it ran out of gear and rpm( the ignition cuts off at 6000).

Im not sure if it ran out of gear, but something kept it from going over 105.
