I let my subscription lapse and I walked by your mag on the news stand and saw the cover and just kept on walking.
Ever hear of the word BORING? It fits you nicely. Why would I want to subscribe to a more boring version of Super Chevy? I mean even your truck article was eclipsed by the Hotrod moderators truck mod stuff in interesting content.
I though about going on your cruise but then I asked myself "what's the point?" Your people probably don't even know what a '68 Barracuda Formula S looks like.
I guess it couldn't last forever, though you did have a good run for the 5 or 6 years I subscribed to you.
PS: A 70 Cuda is the Camaro of the mopar world, even when Motor Trend went out to OCIR in '69 to review one they passed it by thinking it was a Camaro. Ironic that you had one as your token mopar for the year.

boring does fit and Hot Rod is quite interesting in their new magazines (but of course they still dont have enough tech articles to keep me happy) and im still a really big fan of Chevy High Performance but my liking of car craft is dwindling also and im sure so will our sub

When you buy Chevy High Performance you know you are going to be looking at Chevy's, no big deal. I like Chevy's, I own one, but I don't want to see 1st gen Camaro's on every page with an occasional fox body thrown in to break up the monotony. The truck article was more of a cosmetic make-over where at least Douglas's truck deal they were trying to turn some numbers. There are a ton of makes of cars out there: Mercury's, Oldsmobiles, Plymouths, etc. . Hotrod is doing good with their new direction (I subscribe to them now after not subscibing forever), but CC is lost with no idea of what they are doing. Wasted potential, sad really.

I've gotta agree, the mag has gone downhill. To be honest, there's too much tech and dry articles and not enough bs in it. I like the junkyard angle of hot rodding, not the lets show them how to spend a lot of money building a motor. Personally, I think Matt King did an excellent job. The mag was interesting, realistic, and even funny at points. I wasn't into cars when freiburger was at the helm. The point is, Smith's tech is good but that's not what i wanna read about all of the time. I already buy CHP and Super Chevy, so i get plenty of tech. Most of the stuff I can't afford anyways. How about an article on parts to look for in junkyards? Like '76 and earlier chevy castings or cheap posi units. Mitch So what if you have more Horsepower per liter, I've got more Horsepower per car!
Yeah, I've got a turbo.......Transmission

I have no problem with tech, but if I have to read one more disc brake conversion or which dual plane is best for a mouse I think I might throw-up and go blind. There are so many directions that one could go to find entertaining articles and yet there they sit staring at a monitor with a full face helmet on, wasting all the resouces at their disposal. I think most of us did buy CC for the BS and sense of humor, but then again I am a writer too and I know formost that a reader must be entertained. I'm thinking of starting some sort of 'zine though so I don't want to give away any ideas...

I'm not saying I don't like tech, it's just the repetition of it. Didn't both CC and HR do the goofy air cleaner test? Didn't another mag check and see which airbox lid flowed the best on an ls1 camaro? ...snore.... Mitch So what if you have more Horsepower per liter, I've got more Horsepower per car!
Yeah, I've got a turbo.......Transmission

Yeah, I understand what you are saying. But its not like any of these cruds read these message boards anyways. It's kinda like saying goodbye to an old friend, oh well.

Chief HOT ROD crud checking into the message board, here. Is it my fault that CC ran the air filter story after we did? I had no clue until I saw it in CC. The dyno guys tell me that CC got the idea when they saw all our K&N stuff sitting out at the dyno shop!

I call foul.
No fair, if you take the blame then we can't blame Jeff Smith.

I have no complaints really with the way you're running HRM or the way you ran CC. I'm not into pointing fingers at anyone either. My critisisms of CC are in a general way and hopefully are taken in a constructive manner. It's more of a bummer really of what has happened.
PS: The "cruds" comment is also of a general manner that it seems nobody from the magazines reads their own boards. Though the air-filter comparo you mention is a good example of how things shouldn't be done...

Yea, how come Jeff Smith isn't the one answer the post, why do you have to defend his honor.
Edit- Opps I was refering to comander and chief Fry not K C.

Damnit, Cuda, this is one thing I CAN agree with you on, I miss the OLD Car Craft. Even Hot Rod was lacking untill their recent revamp of the magazine, now I feel I can pick it up without being bored after the first couple of pages. And where the hell did Matt King go in Hot Rod, I never see much any of his articles?
