Does anyone have a link to a Hot Rod Magazine or Car Craft article about crate engines? I'm trying to brainstorm a really nice '68 Firebird up that I can't pay for, and I'm trying to remember a Shafiroff-type Poncho engine builder.

Maybe. There was another guy who had a small outfit building crate engines. I think I remember that he used aluminum con-rods even on street applications. And still another shop was casting their own blocks to crank up the displacement. I wish I could get to my magazine collection!
