NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

If you gotta make a change, get a 94-95 Z28!! I am a Chevy guy, but I'm the 1st one to admit Ford has had some good stuff. And as far a Mustangs go 5.0 is the only way to go, but why do you want to trade a car that will make more power for less? Please understand, I'm not simply renewing the rivialry between blue oval faithful, and bow-tie nuts, but if you get one of those Stangs, I will cost you more for less power.

I know the Mustangs look nicer, I'll admit that. But if you want power, go LT-1 or LS1 and you'll come out ahead!

Oh, and sorry if I offended any of the blue oval's, I am not trying to. This is based on my experiance so far, I maybe wrong. If I am I'm sure you will all let me know.

Yea - I don't like the trade either.  Stangs are good cars, and I don't have anything against them, but no one can realistically argue that your selection and availability of parts is any more abundent than with your Z-28.  The ability for you to place more bang for your buck under the hood of the Chev is just better than with the Stang.  I am not trying to slam Fords because I own both Fords and Chevs.  Both have pluses and minuses.  Both are excellent cars, but the bottom line is that because of the interchangability of Chev parts, engines, suspension components, and just about everything else, you are going to get more for less with your Z-28.  You will be at a disadvantage when you start trying to swap parts on Fords - especially engine parts.

Just my opinion - Bowser

id rather say get a Fox Notchback. the 94/5s are nice looking cars, but thats when they started to get heavy and those 5.0s made less power than the 87-93 ones.  they have just gotten heavier since then. just look at the godawful GT500. 3800lbs? my Galaxie probably wont weigh that much when its done.

No crap?  That car is 3800 pounds? - Doesn't seem right but I wouldn't argue the point.  This is a fact that I had to demonstrate to U-haul before they would let me carry my '67 Pontiac Catalina on one of their car carriers.  It is the honest truth that my Catalina is 3800 pounds soaking wet.  I had to get that verified by several different sources including GM.  It was printed in several different car encyclopedias and still the U-haul people wouldn't believe me.  I had to talk with the northwest regional manager before they would let me take the trailer.  It hauled the car beautifully all the way from Eureka California to Tacoma Washington and never missed a beat.

Man - the GT 500 stang at 3800 pounds - that's a porker.

yeah its about 3800 lbs. its a big one. the iron block 5.4L doesnt help much. hell, my friends 66 Fairlane weighs 3400lbs even with a 460 in it. still has the full interior too.

but well, its not a Shelby so i guess that makes it a lesser vehicle. pshhh.

Bull.  All Shelbys are now is Barret-Jackson fodder.  In reverence to your car, I say any '66 Fairlane with a 460 in it is cool.  Nuff said.

i am actually a chevy guy at heart but owning 2 chevys a gmc and a fox mustang you would be surprised how much interchangability there is  in ford small blocks and fox mustangs. maybe not as obvious as chevys but if you do your research you will find out you CAN build a fast stang for as cheap as a chevy. just depends on what your goals are for the car as far as reliability speed drivability etc. i have spent around 2 grand on my 86 notch and it would give a run for the money on a lt1 camaro which will cost you more than 2 grand! sports a  roller 302 with TFS1 cam and GT40P heads along with some spray will easily surpass the 400HP mark. the motor alone while nothing special is approaching 275 RWHP w/o spray in a lightweight coupe. its built off of good condition used parts to keep the cost down. just my 2 cents.

How much does that Opti-Spark cost to replace on a LT1?

Why build a 383 shiby when Ma Mopar built the 383 the right way from the factory?

Shoot, I can do two tune ups on the Ford for the price of one LT1 cap alone. Think I would stick with the Ford.

Seems to me that he is wanting to trade up to a newer vehicle though so an LT1 would at least fall within the year mustang he is looking for. Go with the mustang, what difference does it make if you drive a chevy or a Ford? Your bored with chevy so its time for a change, sounds open minded to me.

Open minded yes, but is he bored with Chevys, no. Just the style he has now. Step up to the 93-94 or so models and you get at least a 30 h.p bump over the 92 he wants to get rid of. Also still at least 30 h.p more than the Mustang he was looking to trade for. So why let him trade for something that will just dissapoint him?
