I was wanting to know if 400 pontiac heads will work on a 350 chevy? My dad is a 350 chevy man from the late 70's and he tells me all of these different combinations. We do derbys mud slings and we both have 2nd gen camaros. But the trick is not spending a lot of money on them. So long story short, will these heads work? And if so whats the pros/cons?

Pontiac heads will not fit or work on a chevy or any other engine except for a pontiac.

Outside of a significant difference in the number of head bolts, the bore spacing is different as well (meaning the valves won't even line up with the chevy cylinders) you shouldn't have too many differences that can't be over come with fabrication of other related parts (like the Intake manifold).  Let us know how it goes.  Look at chevy heads and pontiac heads side by side and it will be readily apparent.

Why would you want to use them? I'm sure you can find a set of Chevy heads in a junkyard that will make more power than a set of 400 Pontiac heads! Building on the cheap doesn't mean building stupid...
