i have an off the shelf 8 inch TCI stall that had a recommended stall of 3500 rpm a 10 bolt rearend with 4.10 ratio.a turbo 350 trans with no shift kit pretty much stock i believe, all behind a 410 horse 440 ft.lbs tourque 383 stroker motor in a 3000 pound camaro.my question is when im at the tree and i try to bring it up to stall it pushes me through the lights at 2800 rpm why is this happening when the advertised stall speed is 3500

sounds like the rear brakes are not up to the task.... and the motor  is overpowering them before you get to the stall speed...

Ok the weight of the car, engine is not making enough torq. these are usually why a stall converter does not reach the advertised stall speed. It also depends on what method they used to measure the advertised stall speed flash stall is usually higher then the brake stall speed.

what are the cam specs? with this mild combo you probably do not need to leave at 3500 anyway.i would try 2000-2200 and flash the converter, depending on cam specs.

yeah the cam specs are 234/244@ .050 the car runs 6.35 in the 1/8th consistently just would like to get some higher revs at launch.
