Need some help guys. I'm currently redoing a '65 mercury comet. It's an original 289 with an automatic column shift. I'm changing to an edlebrock dual plane manifold and carb. The problem is the linkage. This model has the bellcrank linkage. I know I will have to modify it. Anyone run into this and can give me some insight? Pics? Thanks.

i have a friend with a 66 farilane and he just went from 2 to 4 bbl also... the linkage rod just needed to be remade...  there is not enough room on these to run the kickdown linkage from the carb down to the trans...   the orignal linkage has a rod that goes down from the pivot point to a spring loaded cable to a lever on the kick down shaft... this is prior to the long bent rod from the carb linkage to the kick down shaft...

some of the old style auto parts stores have dorman parts and may have throttle linkage ends in stock... these go onto a 1/4-28 threaded rod as i recall...
check dormanproducts.com for part numbers and images....

most manufacturers went to cable linkages do to the motor mounts sometimes breaking, the motors tiliting up and the throttle getting jammed open... i would imagine that all of those non interlocking mounts are gone...

I checked with dormanproducts.com. Nothing for linkages. It's even new to Edelbrock but I did get a response from their help link.
