Was looking at picking up on either a Gen III or Gen IV Chevy Camaro, but cant really make up my mind. What gen camaro would be good for a first time camaro buyer.  

Defintiely go with the 3rd Gen. They're cheaper, easier to work on, and give you a lot more options. You can easily have a 3rd Gen Camaro putting out the same/more power than even the LS powered 4th Gens.

I'm working on a 3rd Gen Project through the Super Chevy website, it's a '92 RS t-top car with a TBI 305. I'm swapping the 305 for a 350 from GM Performance Parts that makes 400 HP. I paid $800 for the car and it's in great shape.

I'd suggest stick with '87-'92 because that's when they started putting the roller motors in the cars, the carbs were replaced with throttle bodies, and some other changes that I think are better than the early cars. Unless you find a killer deal on a mint early 3rd Gen, then I'd say go for it.  

like 55 said, go w/genIII.they are plentiful,cheap,and easy to modify.good for first timer.have fun!

I say go with a second gen. Lots of parts, great looks, ride great, and will get more attention. The price is still reasonable for a muscle car. But then again since I have a 77 and a 68 I might be a bit bias. I have had three 3rd gen. camaros and loved each one. It dosent take much custom work to make them look sweet.  

Go to you tube and type in camaro song. This will help you make up your mind. I'd say its a pg13 song so maybe keep the little kids away.
