thanks 4 postin answers on my last questions
now the el camino wont start because the carb is spirtin gas out the sides and the top when i crank it. help is apreciated.

it could be flooded, or the timing could be off. hold the pedal to the floor, DONT pump it, and crank it with the pedal to the floor. this lets air through the carb.
also, make sure the right plugs go to the right cylinders too. my car runs fine, but the plug that goes to #1 is on the exact opposite side of the distributor as it should be. take the cap off and make sure that when #1 is pressurized, the rotor is pointing towards where 5 o clock would be if the distributor were an analog clock.

also, it might not be getting spark. check the wires to the distributor.

you might have a stuck needle valve try tapping on the fuel bowl with the handle of a screw driver. Also what type of carb. is it.

Fuel spurting out the top and sides, I'd say too much fuel pressure. Could also be a stuck needle & seat. You might be better off just taking the whle carb apart and replacing all the gaskets just to be sure.
