im looking for some help with a performance rebuild on my '97 dodge ram fuel inj. 360 magnum. just wondering if there is anybody out there that has the same engine and has done, is doing, a rebuild. the reason is is that i am having trouble finding performance parts for my engine. also any help with modifying my trans/differential to handle increased power. my goal is to build a street truck that i can occasionally take to the drag strip and not get humiliated. any help would be appreciated.

I have a '99 Dak with a 318. I want to do a mild build up on it. Plan is to extrude hone the intake and heads, Comp Cams has a cam upgrade which recommends MP valve springs, Shorty headers and exhaust upgrade. I can't find any computer upgrades except for a "chip" from Jet. I'm considering using a different ECU (MP has discontinued the unit for my truck), but without a computer upgrade, there isn't a lot that can be done to the motor. I put a factory limited slip that I got on ebay into the stock housing with 3.73 gears. Only trans mod is synthetic fluid. My truck has the towing package so it is upgraded with larger radiator/coolers. Let me know what you find out.

you guys can get a decent ecu flash from BG Chrysler. www.bgchrysler.com look at mopar performance for the heads and a M1 intake manifold for the feul injection setup. Crane has a good array of cams and a 2500-3000 stall will realy wake things up.

this may sound like dumb answers to your performance upgrade(s), but have you considered an electric driven water pump, a/c removal (if you have a/c), moving your batt to the back of your truck? there are quite a few little things you can do that will free up "hidden" hp. mopar muscle mag has a great article on dakota performance upgrades on their site. i think that may interest you. as foe me im still working on it. ive already got $500 wrapped up in upgrading my ram and i havent even addressed headers, or cpu chip. im thinking it may be better to buy a crate 408...

on a differnt thought line... being beeten at a drag strip...  loosing a drag race is nothing to do with being humiliated...  stop taking it personaly... stop asking john force if he wants to race your truck with his funny car...

almost half the people who drag race loose... there is no shame being second in a 2 car race...  being 3rd... now thats a differnt thing...

wake up... get a grip... wait for the green light ... and go...  there is nothing to loose... and no shame in loosing... it's only a drag race..a competition of machines and your right foot. not a quest to save humanity...
