Quarter question

I'm helping my brother replace the quarters on his 1965 Olds F85. I have looked all over and cannot find anyone who makes replacement skins. The majority of the rust is around the wheel well openings. I was wondering if the shape of the opening is the same as any other GM A-bodies like a Chevelle or Skylark?

Also, I have heard different opinions on attaching new quarters. Is butt welding or putting a lip on the panel and lap welding better? With the lap welds I have heard over time moisture can seep between the lap and rust is out. Thanks for the help

i am not an expert on sheetmetal...  but as far as i know.. the lower half of the quarter panels are identical.. it is the upper half starting several inches up from the top of the wheel well opening where the differnce starts...

you should be able to get partical quarters that only go to the bend at the top of the fender...  and cut out what you want...    if you end up with full quarters some of the upper around the rear window is also the same... ...

i could be wrong... but i have this wonderfull photographic memory.. for context and machinery not spelling or text... except i forgot to mention that it really does not work as good as it used to.... i keep it buzy on these forums...
