I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY ONE HAS USED RHOADS LIFTERS.. THEY SEEM LIKE A GOOD IDEA, BUT YOU DONT HEAR OF ANY ONE USING THEM. I HAVE A 350 IN MY 77 CAMARO THAT IS FAIRLY MILD AND RUNS 12.9 IN 1/4 AND STILL GETS 14+ MPG. VERY STREET FRIENDLY. THIS YEAR I'M GOING WITH A BIT MORE IN THE MOTOR. MY MOTOR IS BALANCED, BLUE PRINTED, 10.2 COMP. WITH WORLD HEADS (2.02/1.6) PORTED, EDELBROCK RPM INTAKE, MODIFIED HOLLEY DOUBLE PUMP 750, MALLORY IGNITION WITH A HEI DISTRIBUTOR AND AN EXTERNAL COIL. THE CAM I'M SWAPPING TO IS A  234 @.05 INTAKE AND 244 @.05 EXHAUST. NOT FOR SURE IF I'LL KEEP MY 1.5 ROLLER ROCKERS OR JUMP UP TO 1.6 (DEPENDS ON PISTON TO VALVE CLEARANCE) 2400 STALL AND 3.73 10 BOLT WITH LOCKER. I CONSIDER THAT CAM A BOARDER LINE FOR STREET IN A SMALL 350. IF RHOADS LIFTERS REALLY DO WORK THEM THEY WILL GIVE ME BACK SOME OF THE STREET MANNERS I HAD. I'VE READ THEY DO HELP OUT LOWER RPM  BUT YOU MIGHT LOSE SOME MID-RANGE POWER. SINCE I DO RACE NEARLY EVERY WEEKEND GIVING UP ANY MID-RANGE OR TOP END IS NOT AN OPTION. THANKS...BY THE WAY--YOU GUYS RUNNING A HEI DIST. REALLY NEED TO GET RID OF THAT SMALL IN CAP COIL AND RUN A EXTERNAL COIL. ITS THE SECOND BEST THING I DID FOR MY CAR.

I never used rhodes lifters but have heard that they will tick by many people at idle but I do not know for sure.As far as the in cap coil that depends on witch brand of HEI. you are running.Also are you running a hi-volume oil pump or a standard volume oil pump I use lunati cam&lifters and never had a problem.

YEA EVEN RHOADS SAY THEY WILL TICK AT IDLE. KINDA SOUND LIKE A SOLID CAM. YOUR RIGHT ALOT HAS TO DUE WITH WHAT BRAND. I JUST LIKE THE EXTERNAL DUE TO A MUCH WIDER SELECTION OF COILS, AND MOST PERFORMANCE EXTERNAL COILS SEEM TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE A FASTER RISE TIME WHILE GIVING A LONGER SPARK DURATION. I HAVE TRIED OUT SEVERAL STYLES OF COILS AND SEEN A STOCK SPIT AND SPUTTER AT 5300 RPMS AN ACCEL (IN CAP) TOOK ME TO 6200 RPMS AND HAVE FOUND THE MALLORY PROMASTER (EXTERNAL) CAN GO MORE THAN MY MOTOR CAN REV ABOUT 6350-6400 RPMS. ALSO PICK UP 2 MPH FASTER AT TRACK. I KNOW WHAT WORKS FOR ME MIGHT NOT DO ANYTHING FOR SOMEBODY ELSE. ITS ALL ABOUT THE PERFECT COMBINATION... I'M RUNNING HI-VOLUME OIL PUMP. 30 PSI AT IDLE AND 55 PSI AT 3000 RPM AND 70 PSI OVER THAT. I KNOW THE NEW CAM I'LL BE RUNNING WONT BE A PROBLEM BUT I LIKE TO HAVE MY CAKE AND EAT IT TO.
