I am thinking of buying the LQ4 or LQ9 6.0 gm engine and have read the recent build-ups in Car Craft. ("550hp for less than $4800" or something like that)They took this iron block, eliminated the fuel inj and put on a carb (plus cam & heads). I want to get the same kind of hp but keep the fuel injection. I was wondering what it would take?

You can basically follow the pattern laid out in the story, you'd just need to select a slightly different cam that was designed for fuel injection.

very easy.these engines respnd to basic mods (cam, compression, port work)very well.one issue they have is oil pressure/volume.invest in a good h/v pump.

Has anyone done this with a mid 90s camaro? I have the opportunity to buy a 95 Z28 with no engine. I saw this article on the swap but it says the oil pan will not fit in a camaro firebird. Would the stock LS4 oil pan work? What other pieces would I need such as oil pickup, etc. would I need? With the taller intake would I need a later hood such as the 02-03 SS hood? I would like to make it a sleeper and retain the stock look as much as possible. Thanks.
