I am lost here, this is my girlfriends sons car. 1993 Seville with a 4.9 and a hei distributor. It died on him the other day, I changed modules several times, today the coil, cap and rotor button. It runs fine for about 10 minutes then dies, check for spark and nothing, if you let it cool off several hours it will start and do the same thing all over, any suggestions?

i have had those do almost that exact thing.. the pickup coil was going bad...
in case you have never changed one before.. first thing to to so it jump the ALDL A to B under the dash and see where the timing is set at. with the aldl jumpped... this way you can put it back.. i think the cad timing is set/checked at 2500 rpms.. check the sticker. turn the crank til the timing marks are in view.. then turn the motor til the pick coil tips and the reluctor tips align ... see where the marks are on the balancer...after you line up the tips.. this allows you to put it back and get it really close when you are done...
after you get the dizzy out... see where the drill mark is on the drive gear and scratch a mark up on the rotor support. this alows you to reassemble the shaft and gear in the proper direction....
now.. the shafts dont like to come out after you get the gear off... i turn the dizzy boittom up and fill the shousing with carb cleaner or brake cleaner.. and work the shaft in and out while turning it... this lets you get through the varnish without wedging the shaft into the bushings.. then you can pick off the tiny thin retaining clip from the center of the pickup coil... and the pick up coil will come off....
the reverse to put it back together..
drop the dizzy back in trying to get it to point the rotor at the proper direction ... if it drops on the pump shaft and fits tight on the block.. then you can turn the housing to line up the tips again..
if it does not drop onto the pump shaft... you can with the dizzy in.. spin the motor over until it drops... and continue till the rotor is pointing in the right direction.. bring the timing marks up to the same point wher the dist lined up before .. turn the housing till the tips again line up and lock it in place...
the aldl has to be jumpped to set the timing on these models.. --------------------------- one thing... is there a ground strap under the hei coil that attaches to the center terminal on the 3 wire connector that leads into the base of the dizzy.. some people have missed this.. my brother in law did .. and his helper also.. they could not go more than about 20 miles before the coil and module blew up.. since they were over 1,000 miles away.. all i could do is tell them the part numbers they needed from a napa store near seatac airport.. after they hung up.. i googled the differnt napa stores in that area and described them... and had the store put the parts on the counter... i did not hear from him for several months ... but when i did i ask if they had gotten the parts they needed... .. there was quiet on the line.. then he told me how spookey that was.. they were over 100 miles from home.. when they walked in to the store that they had never been to before.. the employees greeted them by name as they walked in... and had the exact parts sitting there on the counter as they walked up........ he sounded totally releived when i told him i had described them and had the parts placed on the counter ... at three differnt stores...
