Topped 145mph for a good stretch of 217 outside of Portland OR, at 1030 at night.

'66 Mustang, 306 (at the time) flat hyd. cam, 650 holley, headers, and all the other basics. TKO conversion with the .68 5th gear, 3.00 peg-leg diff in the back.

The dynamics of a highly antiquated front suspension wearing 40 year old 6 cyl. springs and $25 el cheapo shocks gets quite entertaining at 140+. I doubt my front tires spent much time in full contact with the road.

170mph in 3rd gear... clicked it into forth.. checked the speedo and about crapped my pants... decided I wanted nothing to do with 5th gear on the street...  Took it to Maxton the next weekend and ran 200.758mph in a mile.. Car ran 256 though the mile at Bonneville.

In my old 91 Trans Am with the stock L98 i showed about 145ish on the I-5 by Custer Washington. In a 2001 Cadillac Seville STS i bounced it off the governer at 155 after racing a 96 mustang gt (and winning), i just continued on accelerating to see what it would do. Those kinds of speeds are pretty gnarly on county roads.

i figure 150 or so in my '05 Mustang on the EOE in Schaumburg well after midnight on a weekday, racing a hopped up vette. pegged the speedo for a good minute and a half at least, and it was pulling strong and was pretty stable untill we caught up with the only other guy on the road. the second i lifted and the vette blew by me like i was sitting still. almost got busted on 290 south of woodfield one night against a hot Cobalt SS, he got a little ahead of me when we got to 100, we got up to at least 130 (too scared to look down at the speedo)and was slightly behind him when we blew past a state trooper. i saw him and let off, but stayed in the lefthand lane. he pulled out and followed me for a good minute, while i'm quite literally sweating and praying. then he peels off and grabs the cobalt. that was a pretty big wakeup and now i try to behave a little better
