On the way home from school, I had my '75 Dart with a 318 goin over 120. the speedo only goes to 120, but it was still winding when I hit the bottom of the hill. on a flat it only went about 115. One of my buddies has a 2000 Firebird with an LS1, and he had it up to 145 before he shut it down.

2 notables. '84 Ferrari 512bb Berlinetta Boxer - 175-180mph (speedo bounce), on I-75 north from Valdosta, GA, about 230AM on a fall night in 1986. Passed a moving Tift unmarked county mountie at about a 110mph differential. County mountie lit 'em up, but we were gone, he had no backup for miles. Still, we got off about 6 miles ahead at next exit, parked it around back of a motel, and checked in for night. Continued north next day at a more sedate speed.
'70 Buick GranSport Stage 1. 455 Stage 1 engine, THM400 trans, 3.23 rear end. I-64, southern Indiana near Santa Claus, summer night after midnight, shortly after I-64 opened in 1975. Doing somewhere between 140 and the trip meter reset shaft, turning 5200rpm. Passed a '70 Corvette big block, who gave chase, but he had 4.11's (by sound), and he was wound at 130 - we'd slow down to tease him, then walk away again. We continued this to Corydon, then slowed down as we came into New Albany (Louisville Metro area). We exited at New Albany, pulled into a Waffle House, and the Corvette came in behind us. He got out of his 'Vette, and asked the obvious "What the heck IS that car, anyway?" question. He was jealous of our white leather interior and nice stereo, and stealthy look.

Well lets see, where to begin?? I had my 1993 grand Am to 110mph before the governer cut the fuel pump.(Stupid ECMs) It was the SOHC Quad 4 also and I was only in 4th gear. Still had one more gear to go. It was also raining, on US 422 outside of Cleveland OH. I have had my Honda Accord to 115mph thanks to newer ball joints, tires, and CV shafts. That was on St Rt 5/82 bypass outside of Warren. I had a 1984 Pontiac Fiero with a 2.5 Iron Duke, completely stock, with worn out valve guides and timing gears, goin so fast the speedo was wrapped around to the "0" again. Of course that was at 4200 rpm with the lock-up converter engaged in 3rd gear. It also took me about 5 minutes to get there, and then a Buick Park Avenue passed me like I was standing still. I estimate I was doin 115mph, and all I heard was "whoosh" from that luxury car. That was on I-80 eastbound from Pennsylvania goin back to Ohio, about 4 miles from the state line. My 1980 Malibu speedo stops at 85, but I had that thing pegged for about 5 minutes chasing an older Gran Prix that had a 3.4 DOHC. I'd say he was doin around 130. I could hear my engine winding out third gear by getting louder as the RPMs picked up, but with my axle and trans, I run out of gear at like 143mph and 160 HP isn't gonna get that tank goin that fast. I need my camshaft put in it. That was also in a 45mph zone on St Rt 5/82 bypass, which is also a "Target Enforcement Area" from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. You get pulled over on that stretch and you have to go to court in Newton Falls, OH. The judge in that city is called "Maximum Judge Old" for a reason. In all these occurences I haven't been ticketed. The fastest speeding ticket I have ever recieved was an 80 in a 65 in PA. And that cost me $152 just in fines. That didn't count if I had gone to court for the court costs. I'm actually a very slow driver now. It costs too much in gasoline to drive faster than the speed limit.

Lets see. 130 in an Acura Integra. 160 in a modified 5.0(ran out of balls, not motor). 180 in a slightly modified 98 Mustang Cobra. Kind of funny, at 160 the 5.0 felt like it was going to fly off the road. At 180 the Cobra was dead stable.

What does the world look like at 190 mph on a bike, is it like one huge blur? I mean would the wind resistence take you right off if you raised your head up off the bike? I mean that is a sick speed, the fastest anyone I know ever drove was 150mph and they got scared with a car at that speed.

pretty much like a blur. the scariest part was changing lanes and hitting the reflectors in the middle of the road, felt like a wash board and they are 20 feet apart. i stopped and smoked a cigarette and shook for about 10 minutes before taking it back to the dealership. the bike would have killed me.

Agreed on the Busa. I wanted one until I seen one run a mid 9 at over 150 mph. Like you said, would have killed me.

The fastest I have gone is arround 140, I think I was going faster but that was how fast the cops said I was going when they brought me in. 17 years old 1973 Javelin AMX three cops and 1 dog. I may have been able to outrun the first cop, but I found out the hard way you cant outrun the radio or the dog. Lost licence time in jail, lots of fines and school bus drove by while I was on the ground.

70 nova, smashed out windows, mild 350, and one messed up thm350. passed a chp that was tailgating an rv, so i didnt see him til it was 2 late. we met eyes, and i was doin 75 in a 35mph turn on a back road. i knew he had an 1/8th mile to go before he could turn around, and he wasnt local, so he hadnt seen the only white nova with red stripes in the world before. i threw it into 2nd, and punched it. when it had wound up enough, i put it back in drive, but thats when 3rd gear said bye bye. buried the needle at 120 in second, got about 1500 more rpm out of it, and held it down. the trans was a 9" tailshaft 350 from a truck, and the b&m reducer that kept the speedo accurate exploded, so officially i only did zero. probally hit 130, back and forth between lanes, as traffic got thick. got home, put it in the garage, and watched the news in a paranoid fetal position, thinking that i was gonna get cought. that was 2 months ago. now i got a new trans from jasper with a 100,000 mile warranty.
