I've been 142 in the Trans Am,137 in the Lightning.Coming back from Riverside {that was a long time ago} I pushed a 911 out of the fast lane at 105.I was driving my Dodge 3/4 ton van, towing my Bobcat IT/B race car.

I did 127 in a 55 a couple years back, down a dead end road.  Not the smartest thing i've done.  It was my '81 camaro with a stock 350, th250c, and 2.56 gears.  It was a dog out of the hole, but pulled hard from about 70-110.   The 2.56's went in the trash, and 3.90's took their place.  Using a calculator, I should run out of gear at about 130 with my new combination.

well the little needle was stuck at the top speed of 120 for about 5 minites so im guessing my buick was going fast the hardest part was stopping for the old guy in the middle of the road with bad breaks thats what happens when you race on your local backroads it was funny because my dad was with me and pulling his usual seatbelts kill more than they save and his face almost met the windshield anyway its an extremely rusty 70 buick skylark with a 350 that has a litte over 59k showing (my 94 s-10 has 57k showing) thats what you get from a wwII veterans estate for $800

Back in 1984 I had a 79 Camaro Z28 with a 160 MPH speedo. It would top out at 145 on  I72 in central Ill. Now I prefer to do 120 in the 1/4 at grudge matches in Central Indiana. MUCH SMARTER AND SAFER. But I'll never forget the feeling of 145 with the T-Tops out and the feeling of being sucked out of the car.

Well lets see, I did 145 in my dads(this was a long time ago) 6.9 Mercedes and come up on a cop. Yap just me two semi's and a cop. Ended up going to jail and getting a DUI, but luckily I was able to get out of the DUI. I did 140 in my '96 Z28 on the highway blowing off a Mustang, here ran out of gears at that speed. And I did 125 in my '99 Z28 a few months ago racing a SRT4. I smoked his ass to.

When I was young and somewhat more stupid, I got a "confirmation" of 155 in a 50 from the Fort Worth PD.  Wanna know how far back that was?  The fine was $88.  Miss that Trans Am...

Highest for me was in a modified '70 Boss 302 Mustang a few years ago.  It was a summer morning at about 5:45am on I-15 in SoCal.  We knew this would be when the interstate would have the least amount of traffic, and hopefully no cops.  This was a planned run, and we had a "spotter" ahead of us.  Based on the tach call-back, tire diameter and rear gearing - we hit 168mph.  We were peaked there for maybe 5 seconds until intelligence overcame the rush.  A Boss 302 turning above 8,000rpms is pure music.  Also, you have zero peripheral vision at that speed.

Other than that - and knowing that speedos aren't real accurate at high speed - I've had a turbo Porsche 930 up to 157mph (based on speedo) and my Volvo S60 R up to 140mph (on its speedo).

I know why don't they just slap him on the wrist and tell him to go on his merry way. 88 bucks is nothing.

I got off easy because when they lit me up, I pulled over (and like to died of heart failure).  The two Crapmaros that I had just skunked, that started the whole thing anyway,  ran away.  They didn't get far.  Between Motorola and the cop chopper, they were off to the slammer within the hour.  I was contrite and cooperative so I got the 'good citizen special' for the evening.  Do that today and it's reckless endangerment, loss of vehicle, loss of license, mega buck fine.  The $88 was about 28 years ago, dudes.  TX is pretty harsh on any kind of street racing now.

When I got pulled over for doing 115mpg on rt101e in NH. the cop walked up the window and i quote "Can i see you piliots license, i caught you moving at about mach 2 back there."  Now i was so nervous (and not sure if i ended up in the Super Trooper movie) that i didn't even think of laughing but my brother nearly pissed his pants. but lucky the cop was in a good mood and I got off pretty easy only a $480 ticket but no marks on my piliots license
