"Classic Car" Question

In my hunt for some older iron (late 60's to early 80's), I've seen some absolute junk lately.  When I ask a person how much they want for said junk, they quote me some figure that's way above what it's actully worth.  When I balk at their price, they always say "Hey, it's a classic!".  My question is, at what point does a beater become "classic"?

Once its 20 years old(technically)its a classic.25 and its an antique. One mans junk is another mans treasure.Know what you want, know what its worth, and if your cheap expect to get a beater you can fix up slowley as money permits. You may want to look a vehicle specific forums/web sites and check out their for sale sections. You may be surprised at what you find.

come to Australia where youll find what your looking for especially in country towns like bendigo and ballarat or place wanted ads with the budget you have in mind.Alot will depend year, make n' model, dont expect numbers matching.Seek and you shall find, be like a scavenger make offers and leave your ph number.Look 4 people with kids doing it hard financially that have that car they're really trying to get rid of. yes people may knock you back initially , but someone is gonna say yes once they are desperate for money, good luck I think under 5g's you will find a semi decent car.

ok...quote  I've seen some absolute junk lately.  When I ask a person how much they want for said junk and they want more than it worth...

there are guys out there that buy junk as starting point for a auction car to make a profit with...

there are others that buy a car to piece it back together because they love that car...or they see their fantasy ride in it...

both of those guys want the car.. but for totally differnt reasons...so there are differnt prices ...

except the sellers have been stung so many times they overprice everything... you cannot tell the sheep from the wolfs...

a friend of mine collected red glass from thrift stores.. he's retired and all...    the price kept increasing..   one day he ask a new cashier why the price keeps going up...     she leaned close and said theres some guy that goes around and buys up all the red glass... so it must be worth something...so we keep increasing the price...

he said that was an ahha moment... he had priced himself out of the market...

I was surprised at what I found looking around. I found a 1966 Ford F100 in its all original condition and I purchased it from its original owner that bought it in 1966. When I bought, he even gave the original license plates that were on it in 1966. This was a rare find. I have been told it is a rare find.

I"m in the process of restoring it back to its original condition, but at this point, the truck does not need much only a new original paint job, everything else is original all the way down to its original license plates in 1966.

Is there anyone out there, know how rare my 1966 F100 truck really is? It has a 352 *** engine, 3 on the tree with manual overdrive, and is in all original condition, even down to its original license plates from 1966.

when you find something that someone else has not got, and you find it, in a old barn are just behind a tree that you have looked behind many years. I found one, just driving around the country side, looking for nothing.

The best barn find i know of is a decent 1940-50ish Dodge truck that has about 6000 on the clock, but the motor blew up. I was thinking about buying it but i have no room, and when i asked i foud out it wasn't theirs, so I couldent get a price.

keep your ears open if you know anyone who works at a nursing home. sometimes the residents may have a car that they bought new in their younger years, and would get rid of it cheap or for free because they just don't have a use for it any more. ive spotted a little old lady driving a two door 80's malibu and another lady driving an 85 monte carlo. old ladies sure can pick good cars, can't they?
